When did hating * become "cool"?

I've been seeing "I hated * before it was cool" on sigs and whatnot, and I've been wondering — when was that? I mean, I started hating him right around the 2000 elections (though my hatred for him has certainly multiplied since), but I dunno if that's in the "cool" period or what.

alarmed. Because too many of our citizens just don't pay attention. They think Virginia Plame is an American Idol contestant. They think the DSM is a state organization that handles driver's licenses. And neo-cons are criminals. (well, they're right about that). These are the people who just want desperately to finally be on a winning team. That's why they said they were for Bush (without having a clue what that actually meant) when he appeared to have the nation behind him. And after 9-11. They wanted America to "whup ass". Now that Bush is listing badly, they want to jump ship.
Because hating Bush has become "cool".
Maybe they don't hate Bush for the right reasons. Maybe they're shallow people who merely want to, again, be on the "winning" side.
But as long as they help us turn our country around, it's OK by me. Invite them in and give them a cup of coffee. We're in for a long night.
