that looks like a fetus and when the fetus hits Texas it will be God's punishment for allowing all fetuses to grow up to be Republican Texans.

Dead wrong, too, or have you forgotten all about Camp Casey? Ask Cindy Sheehan if all Texans are repubs.

40. Unfortunately most Texans are republicans...
or at least they vote that way. I've met few Texans that I liked. I'm sure that there are wonderful Texans, however, they are definitely in the minority.

This is the state that gave us GWB and Tom Delay - you can't get much worse than that. Therefore, I reserve the right to blame Texas for getting us in the mess we're in right now!

25. Easy evacuation.
Get 30 feet above high tide sea level and in a sturdy building and you are OK. Cuban terrain makes the 30ft part easy.

34. Does anybody remember 1988? Does anybody remember James Hansen?
Edited on Wed Sep-21-05 08:18 AM by hatrack
Does anybody remember his testimony to Congress, when he stated that an unambiguous signal had emerged from the statistical noise showing that the Earth was warming rapidly?

Does anybody remember how G.H.W. Bush promised to counter the greenhouse effect with the "White House effect?"

Does anybody remember how the Greening Earth Society and the Cato Institute and AEI and the Frontiers of Freedom Foundation and all of their trained seals on the radio and in the press squawked and squealed and spent millions of dollars and decades smearing and deriding and dismissing climate science even as the scale of what was coming became unmistakably clear and as the science supporting Hansen's initial conclusions became overwhelming in its validity and consensus down through the years ?

Does anybody remember the worst-case scenarios of forest fires and crop failures and droughts, of the increased spread of disease and the collapse of fisheries and plant and animal populations in the face of climate breakdown?

Does anybody remember the Larsen A & B Ice Shelves, the Quellcaya glacier and the snows of Kilimanjaro?

Does anybody remember predictions of intense Category 4 and 5 hurricanes becoming routine?

Welcome to the world predicted 17 years ago, the world which arrived unnoticed while we sat on our collective ass, mesmerized by which celebrities were fucking other celebrities, by Oval Office blowjobs, by which professional sports team beat other professional sports teams and by whether the words "Under God" should be allowed in the Pledge of Allegiance.

I guess we were busy.

This bullshit actually gets play, cuz the media told you so?

It was a big wind and rain storm!

Nothing more...

Poor Bush is sitting and waiting and hoping for more!

It was nothing...But at least it will keep the protest in DC, LA, SF and Seattle, out of of the "news"...A fucking CAt 2 Plus... It was NOT a Cat 3 - total bullshit! Only tree branches have been up rooted! Whoops, a few signs too. Lots of rain and wind.

Poor Bush, Rove though, will find somewhere to produce the dunce today!

55. There is a twenty foot storm surge
which is going to affect the Lake Charles area. There are smaller, but significant rises all along the Gulf Coast of Louisiana and Texas, including the areas that were hit by Katrina. Storm surges are also rising in Lake Ponchartrain, increasing the flooding in New Orleans.

Sorry, that is not just a big rain and wind storm. It is going to mean further devastation and loss of life, as well as damage to refineries and natural gas production.

Sorry, it's just a bigger story than a protest. Any protest, short of an armed insurrection in the streets of Washington, D.C.

The protest wouldn't have gotten dookey in coverage anyway. If it wasn't the storm getting top coverage, it would have been something in Iraq, or another missing white blonde girl.
