Response from President Carter's camp
I posted earlier asking why Jimmy Carter would team up with the rat bastard James Baker. I then sent an email to Jimmy Carter.org. Here is their reply:

Ms. Xxxxx: The Carter Center is webcasting tonight a townhall meeting with Pres. and Mrs. Carter on our website. This is an annual event. I suspect that, among many other questions, he will get question or two on this. You might tune in at 7 p.m. at www.cartercenter.org

I am a huge fan of Jimmy Carter's. He (in my eyes) was the best president of my adult life. He is truly a Christian that walks the walk. But why on earth would he team up with that crook James Baker? That man has committed treason multiply times. I am so disappointed with President Carter right now.

2. Not to mention the fact that he is recommending voter ID cards?
What is up with that? I'd love to know the reason behind this and how they propose to make it fair (as in, FREE and easy).

4. Mr. Carter mentioned that specific thing in the press conference -
he said they would have to be free and easily obtainable. He was short on how to do that, but layed out that broad caveat to ID's.

6. So how is a free voter ID card going to guarantee that my vote is counted?
Answer: It doesn't.

The problem is Diebold, et al, not voter fraud.

7. Agree. I think Mr. Carter was addressing access, not verification.

3. Maybe Carter was trying to dilute some of the poison
that Baker wanted to put into the report, though I understand the report went over like a lead balloon. I confess I was a bit confused too as to why he would join with Baker. Hopefully that will be brought up and answered. I still admire "Mr. Jimmy".

5. Me too. I will always love Jimmy. He is a true American. Can you
imagine Reagan, Bush I, or Bush II building houses for poor people? Winning a Nobel Peace Prize? Do ANYTHING that is not for selfish purposes? Jimmy Carter a wonderful man.

8. He absolutely is...
Carter is a moral man. As President, he made difficult and unpopular choices on the basis of morality.

The "October Surprise" was a perfect example of the kind of immoral, end-justifies-the-means political strategy that got B* into the White House.

The Reagan operatives who made that happen embrace the same immoral worldview as Rove and all of his bootlickers.
