Should I send this letter to the Kansas City Star?
To those readers who have bashed victims of Katrina, claiming they are too dependent on welfare, may I remind you that Kansas is a "welfare state." Kansas receives more in Federal dollars than it pays into the Treasury. My state of New Jersey gets back 68 cents for every dollar of Federal tax we pay. So those of us who reside in New Jersey can complaing about welfare. People in Kansas should hang their heads in shame for not being able to support themselves.

Sincerely,

R. Franklin

3. The Star is published in KC, MO.
But it's a regional newspaper.

And I'm a card carrying Jayhawk fan who raised card carrying Jayhawk fans. Now... I'm going to reasonable and say "Apologize, please."

6. Sorry.
I live in KC, MO. For years I've had to commute to the Kansas burbs to work. I just couldn't, and still can't, believe the entitled attitude of so many of my Kansas co-workers.

8. Okay, I'll admit that I have certainly met some Kansans who
irritated me. Its part of the reason I don't live there any more. Still, when I go back I miss the place.

9. Home is always home.
Did you go to KU? They seem to be the worst offenders in my experience.

11. No. But I am a lifelong KU basketball fan.
Win or lose. And I still enjoy it everytime KU beats K-State.

4. A bit harsh. Can you limit those that must hang their heads in shame
to the Bushbots or people bashing the Katrina victims?

My Mom, a fervent Dem, lives in Overland Park. You don't want to alienate the people who are already on your side.

Just my opinion, as a person who used to live in the Kansas suburbs of KC.

7. Like it!
KCMO is my home town. We lived a block away from the state line with Kansas.

Sometimes truth hurts. So does open heart surgery. But sometimes it's necessary.
