How many body bags did they order for NO?
Was is it 10k? 25k? And didn't they double the amount of bags ordered?

That is the first thing I said to my repug Father when he was pointing out how low the body count was compared to what they predicted after the immediate aftermath.

Wait, that was the second thing. First I pointed out to him that they had hired a body "disposal" (much more appropriate title for the asshats given the job) contractor that had been indicted AND CONVICTED of dumping bodies in mass graves to hold the numbers down.

THEN I hit him with the right (no pun intended there). "So, Pop. Why did they order so many body bags? Was it just another GROSS (as in HUGE) miscalculation by this administration? Or was that just before they figured out that big body counts are bad for *'s agenda?"

Long silence followed by vigorous attempt to misdirect.

Just a thought.

1. You're right. They did order thousands of body bags, and then
ordered more! I don't know if they miscacluated AGAIN or if there realy are more dead than they're saying. I think it sounds a little strange when the media says there are many areas that haen't even been checked yet. It's been 10 days now. I'm not sure anyone can survive that long without food and water.

I wonder if we will ever know???

2. Am I the only one that thought of this?
It was the first thing I thought when I kept of hearing RWer's saying, "Gee, this wasn't nearly as bad as all you screaming liberals claimed it would be."

And the first thought I had was, "Well why the hell did they order so many body bags then? If our federal funds have been such a question, wouldn't they be a little more accurate at an estimate for body bags? They're obviously not free. And that would mean they were off by...what...49,000 bags?! And whose the idiot here?"

8. The governments attempts to ban reporters from the.....
New Orleans area (the ban that CNN sued to have overturned) was enough confirmation to me that the body count from Katrina was going to be finessed!

I haven't been able to believe ANY information put out by this administration or government since January, 2003.

9. They will not get away with trying to hide
the numbers. Sociologists and Economists will calculate the numbers come hell or high water. The lies no longer matter. Time has caught up with these morons.

5. Oh I know.
And you know.

But the RWer's and the clueless are using the "out of sight out of mind" defense that has become so old and moldy. "If'n I canst sees it, it musta not exist."

But it's the obvious argument that should smack the apologists upside the head.

And I seem to be the only one to have brought this argument up at this point.

6. They are trying to get 50,000 more
The federal government is trying to purchase an additional 50,000 body bags for use in the Hurricane Katrina cleanup and in Iraq, according to an official for a Modesto manufacturer.
Previously, the Federal Emergency Management Administration purchased 25,000 body bags and shipped them to New Orleans

7. Two links from a couple of weeks back - 25,000 body bags, morticians
associated with FEMA told to expect up to 40,000 bodies. And I think these numbers are STILL low. There may have been increases later that I didn't see - but in any case, I believe these numbers are still far, far too low.

By the way, there are still bodies lying around rotting even in New Orleans, both in the streets and in debris and houses.

The longer they wait, the fewer bodies will be "found" to add to the embarrassing number. Major coverup going on. It's why they don't let journalists photograph or write stories about this.

So you have the phenomenon of the weirdly, impossibly low "official" death tolls, numbers no one who has been watching or who gives a damn about all these people treated worse than human garbage (garbage is usually picked up once a week - and these bodies are there after THREE) believes.

10. Bin Laden's best recruiter, Bin Laden's best "accidental"
accomplice. What a gift the American voters have given the greatest terrorist alive... enemy #1, dead or alive, fanatical extremist, I'm really not that worried about him......

11. they'll undercount the dead in various ways
has anyone seen a protocol, or framework for how a death is attributed to the hurricane? Obviously if a body is uncovered by receding water, this death should count. But how about someone who died at the airport waiting? Someone who died on the way out? Frail elderly who died for lack of meds etc.

14. They are NOT checking many houses
More houses than not have big red "X" on them, with "NE" also, meaning they didn't enter the house to look. They are NOT checking inside houses. The city reeks of death, of putrid sewage sitting for weeks and now drying out. The "water" that has sat in the streets and houses is sewage, not water. They are not checking houses.
