Son's middle school having a "National Day of Peace" assembly this AM
I was floored when the principal excitedly discussed the plan at our PTSO meeting a couple of weeks ago. She detailed the festivities to an suspiciously silent group of about 30 women. I am in serious Bush country here. Anyway, the kids are all supposed to dress in blue and they are going to form the word "Peace" with 1200 kids. I think it is awesome!

Anyway, I am gonna wake my little angel up in about 5 minutes, and I want to have a good talk with him about peace before school. I have talked about the war and how wrong it is many times with him. But this morning I want to give him some words that really have meaning. If anyone could give me some ideas that would be awesome. He is 11. Thanks.

8. I think this is a real good idea.

I am amazed that it is happening in Bushworld. In a public school.

9. The principal is really great...
You could tell when she was talking about the assembly and the theme
"world peace", she was into it. It was weird though, I looked around the room at the emotionless faces and knew these volunteers wouldn't make it to the assembly.

11. Wow, I'm impressed! Sounds very cool. I also have an 11 yr old son..
who is in middle school and I've never heard of this event. I wish they had something like this at his school! As the mother of a son, in particular, I feel very strongly about modeling peaceful solutions to problems. Also, to remind him that Peace within oneself, helps to create Peace out in the world. I want him to grow up to be a Peace-loving man.
