He looked very grim, and so did the officials behind him.

7. Ridiculous
How about FEMA getting some planes in there NOW and flying those people out of there? Or getting Greyhound buses NOW and driving them out? This is ridiculous! Must we have another New Orleans?

Edited on Wed Sep-21-05 09:47 AM by mduffy31
If you live on a flood plain, get the hell out of dodge, and if you can't on your own reach out to the govt, but they don't have enought vehicles.

6. Evacuation questions
Edited on Wed Sep-21-05 09:59 AM by maine_raptor
If the government does not have enough busses, then

1) do they have any airports in Houston, and

2) Do they know anybody with some BIG green-painted planes that could fly folks out?

(The last question is asked with sarcasm.)

9. We will never hear about it...
even if there is a full scale dead on hit.

Since Houston isn't a bowl, the water issues will be much less -- more like the gulf coast than the NOLA. The first mile or two will be absolutely demolished, but the rest will just be wind damage.

Although wind damage can be serious, compared to flooding or storm surge its minor. Remember, in effect Gulfport was hit by a 25' wave, along its entire length, that went inland for miles. The only thing comparable is the Tsunami effects.
