4. "Take him at his word"? WHAT word?
The man basically refused to answer any serious questions from Congress;
and the White House refused to turn over any of his past work...

So EXACTLY what "word" is being referred to?

Besides, Leahy has a RESPONSIBILITY to INVESTIGATE
and to decide upon the EVIDENCE.

"Taking him at his word" is NOT Leahy's JOB;
it is, in fact, exactly OPPOSITE
of what he is legally required to do!

So a hearty "FUCK YOU" to him from me as well!

3. The courts is where
liberty is being lost and will be lost. Anyone who aids and abets the demise of an independent judiciary and removal of equal protection of the law for Americans has no worth as a public servant. Thank you for allowing me rant on this thread.

6. 25 Dems could vote for Roberts.

K Street Democrats agreed that Roberts ultimately would be confirmed with anywhere from 65 to 80 votes, with most centrist and Southern Democrats voting to approve the nomination. Every Democrat who signed the "Gang of 14" agreement to preserve the minority's right of judicial filibuster will vote for Roberts, they predicted, with several openly forecasting that Reid himself will support the nominee.

hey, what about this gang of 14 ? I thought they agreed not to filibuster = not to rubber stamp?

Perhaps he's playing chess and holding his fire for when the Republicans nominate a real nut job...

13. My immediate reaction to your post is that either his rating will/should
go down or perhaps they need to raise their standards. Thirdly perhaps they were subverted much the way the senoir citizens organization (brain fart; can't recall their name)were sell outs re: "medicare reform".

17. The American Conservative Union rates him a less conservative than
Russ Feingold.

It appears that organizations from both ends of the political spectrum disagree with the assessment that Senator Leahey is a 'DINO.'

10. Why after all this time do Dems
still make inane statements about repukes like "I'll take him at his word"? What do they not get about the sinister ulterior motives of the lying, thieving bastards?

Roberts' refusal to answer questions ought to be enough for each and every Dem senator and any repuke senator with a conscience (as if one existed) to vote "no" on this neanderthal and send an already weakened chimp a message that this sort of jackass has no place on the court.

What are we seeing instead? The usual making nice while bending over.

Disgusting.

14. unfortunately, you may be right re: the majority but they'll eventually
have to choose sides when the informed minority realizes that there are no other alternatives.
