POTENTIAL RITA VICTIMS WHO ARE EVACUATING
Take your important papers with you, insurance (auto, home, life), mortgage, will, all accounts and bank info. Have a good list of all online accounts and passwords and check out internet connectivity whereever you end up. And keep in mind - fema.gov. You can apply for assistance online afterwards. Best of luck to one and all.

Current FEMA assistance number: 1-800-621-3362 - keep it with you and use it or the website at the earliest evidence of damage

2. Hi Bosshog
Haven't seen you here since the night before Katrina. Good to see you back and hope you and yours made it all safely.

3. Thank you very much
We had some minor damage to the house, lost lots of trees; have gotten a significant amount of cleanup done in the past two weeks. We are healthy, safe and sound (although the wife is ready to move NOW). Red Cross and FEMA are helping out pretty well here (50 miles northeast of NOLA) but we don't have the intense damage or population that those south of us do. We were without power and water for 10 days so we spent that time with the inlaws in Kansas. I hope we are finished with hurricanes for the year.

Thanks, BOSSHOG!

Good wishes to all.

7. I agree
One moron in my neighborhood left her cats to fend for themselves during Hurricane Katrina. Apparently, she had left a window open for them and the cats are gone. Nobody knows what happened to them.

I can't fathom how people can do that. If I had to sneak my cat herd into a hotel room then so be it.

8. Story on New Orleans TV Station
A family left their 80 year old bedridden mother at home. They evacuated. She drowned. Nothing more to say.

6. Also, before you leave,
don't forget to take before pictures and/or video of your property for insurance purposes. Store those with your insurance papers. :)
