Anyone get the Air America Affiliate email?

Looks like what we pretty much figured. They are going to start charging for online streaming. They didn't out right say it, but they said being an affiliate gets you a discount on future premium services.

4. I think this is just another symptom of their cash issues.

They aren't making the money, so they need to squeeze out every nickel they can at the expense of their supporters.

They have a commercial every five minutes! I don't understand how they're not making money if every hour is 30 minutes of commercials. :shrug:

6. Don't get me wrong, I love Air America, but they seem to have some

serious management issues. I don't think they get a cut of the commercial money when the ads are played on XM and when I listen to my local "Chicago" outlet, I hear more public service ads rather than real paying commercials ads.

When you have a small market share, you also can't charge as much for ad time as a station that has a larger market share. Companies aren't looking to pay good money for an ad that won't be heard by as many people. So even if you do run a lot of paying ads, you're making a lot less money, then compound the cash flow problems with bad management decisions and you have a formula for trouble. They've got to still be reeling from the Evan Cohen problems.

Piquant,LLC isn't publicly traded, so they don't have to publish any financial data. If they did make the data public, it'd be a lot easier to tell what was going on with Air America. Right now it's just speculation based on the drips and drops of info that gets out into the MSM. After believing them about the bounced checks that got the original Chicago station knocked off the air, I've become increasingly cautious about any issues they say are "no big deal".
