I wonder what will happen now that National Guard is being used in N.O.
and Iraq. More reinforcements are likely going to be need if God forbid there will be a disaster in Texas now after Katrina. From what I understand guard troops were drawn from neighboring states to New Orleans, and Texas is a neighboring state. What other placed are they going to have to draw more help from?

I just hope Texas will be able to get all the help they need now that there are so many demands being put on the National Guard.

1. Texas has a much bigger NG than
LA. So even if a lot of them are in Iraq, they will have 10 times the number of NG in Texas as LA had.

2. I'd hope that Perry's called up what TX NG hasn't been assigned
elsewhere, and is positioning them in Corpus Christi and N. of Houston. And cleared Ellington Field. NASA and Ellington Field are cheek-and-jowl with Clear Lake.

I hope that's he's put in requests from other states to active their guard and get them ready for depositing at IAH and Hobby (if Hobby's open), as well as San Antonio. If it takes 48 hours, they should be good to go Saturday morning when Rita roars ashore.

I also hope that he's examined the protocols that govern how other states' guards can be used, and gotten permission for them to engage in whatever types of activities possible, not just historically justified.

White's learned the lesson that Nagin provided, at least in part. I hope that Perry's learned from Blanco's less than perfect acts.

3. The NG in NO
If we all could be as good as we know that anyone can think
while without some clear meaning of value of humanity, then
the likelihood that only the worst situation regarding the
dispersal of each thought comes with no assumption and keeps
us all as confused as the easiest failure of communication
that can emote.
