Dubya Gets a Do-Over
I can't believe this guy's luck.
Less than a month after Hurricane Kluster-F*ck, he gets the chance to shine.
Oh you can bet they'll be ready for this one.

They've called in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, the National Guard, the student bodies of all the service academies, the ROTC, The American Legion, the VFW, the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, the Knights of Columbus, the Elks, The Mooses, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Teamsters, the Steamfitters Union, the National Education Association, the DAR, the League of Women Voters, The Texas A & M Marching Band, and the entire civilian populations (over the age of 15) of North and South Dakota.

Those 400?...500?...800? trucks full of ice are leaving where they've been idling in Maine for the last week and headin' on down to TEXAS! YeeHaa!

Sam's, WalMart, Costco, Winn-Dixie, and the Piggly Wigglys in a 5 state radius have donated ALL their stocks for hurricane relief.

PLUS...ol' Prezdent Gee Dubya and Texas Gov. "Good Hair" Perry will have a French kissing, tongues waaayyy down each other's throats, butt slapping, high fiving, self-congratulating LOVE FEST about what a great job they did. And a little wink-wink about what can be accomplished if YOUR state would just elect a repug governor.
:grr:

16. Thanks. Bill White is one of the good ones. Excellent manager.
In a sane world, he'd end up as Secretary of something.

4. This will be a great way to show just how biased Bush is!
Really, it's sickening the way this administration treated Louisana. Oh, sure, the right-wingers will tell you that it's because it's the governor's and the mayor's fault, not W's. Despite the fact that W's cronies are the ones in charge of the agency that handles disasters.

I'm starting to wonder how differently 9/11 would have been treated had Guilliani not been a Republican.

23. 44% of Galveston's pop is white
Races in Galveston:

* White Non-Hispanic (44.2%)
* Hispanic (25.8%)
* Black (25.5%)
* Other race (9.7%)
* Two or more races (2.4%)
* Asian Indian (0.9%)
* American Indian (0.9%)
* Chinese (0.8%)
* Filipino (0.6%)
http://www.city-data.com/city/Galveston-Texas.html

While that is the majority, it's a far cry from "all" of the population being white.

8.  I look at it another way....
No matter what BUSH does for RITA, it will be COMPARED to what he did't do for Katrina.
The mayor of Houston just said "look for your neighbor to help because there will not be enough GOVENMENT help"....
I think many will see the President reaching for the ultimate photo op..Rita will not vindicate him. People are still going to be left without help because there IS NO FEMA ,IT WAS DISMANTELED UNDER BUSH!

9. Is it at all possible they are manipulating the threat of Rita so as to
give * the opportunity to appear heroically responsive (and will thus get all the credit when the storm's severity is less than anticipated?) Or should I go put the tin foil away and start getting dinner ready? With global climate changes and all, it's pretty believable that a storm like these two could easily follow one after the other, but OTOH, I wouldn't put anything past this crowd.

15. Rita the most powerful in history-John Kerry has never lost a debate
Before I got on the computer, I was thinking that shrubco is going to hype Rita for all it's worth so they lower people's expectations should they make fools of themselves again..sort of like hyping up Shrub's opponents in the presidential elections.

12. I hear you
But this time, he's in a bit of a bind. He gave away the store post-Katrina. If he talks about a relief package for Texas any larger than $12.50, his base is gonna go apeshit. Doesn't matter what it's for, they'll think their tax cuts are going to pay for non-evacuating welfare mammas.

14. You underestimate the awesome power of stupidity and incompetence...
Bush will fuck things up this time too. He can't help but fuck things up. It's all he knows, and all that he's done for his entire life. Do you really think that *'s appointees know what the fuck they're doing? Do you think that the people of the region EXPECT him to do anything useful after the Katrina fiasco? Nah. He'll fuck it up AGAIN, and the locals/liberals will get the blame as usual. God I can't WAIT to get the fuck out of the B U.S. H of A.

20. Now I could go with that.
Dear President and Congress,

We, the citizens of the United states of America, want a do-over.
Knowing now what we didn't know then, we want a re-vote.

Thank you,
The Citizens.

19. IT AIN'T HAPPENING... the images of dying people begging for help,
food, water at the NO Convention Center.. for someone to help them, is SEARED into the minds and memories of us all. The knowledge that he appointed Horse-Boy to run FEMA after our national tragedy, 9-11, will not be erased by Chimpy's "good deeds". Way too fucking late.

Why can't Rita morph into a tornado and wipe out his fucking Crawford ranch?

Why don't the people who actually support Bush suffer the consequences of his stupidity and greed? Actually, why don't they ever suffer the consequences of THEIR OWN stupidity for voting for the fool in the first place.

28. lose-lose situation
Seems like a lose-lose situation for Bush...

If they get their act together and handle Rita well, then it only reinforces the fact that they didn't care about NOLA, blacks, etc...

If they fuck up, it only reinforces the fact that they're incompetent.

29. Kick for Aaron Brown's "mulligan"
BROWN: In many ways, Rita is Katrina all over again. Both storms picked up strength quickly as they approached and grew into monster hurricanes, feeding on the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. But government officials from Texas to the White House hope there is a huge difference. They hope they get it right with their emergency planning this time.

With Rita, officials get another swing at it. On the golf course, you call it a mulligan.
