Syria runs Lebanon. It's like having an argument with a madman and the robot he controls.

23. Don't forget Iran and their new missles that can reach Israel.
The mullahs will try to find any reason to use those things.

24. Yeah, Iran is the factor that ....
... can make it totally crazy - do they actually have the nuclear missiles yet? Or are they just conventional warheads?

27. IMO They will get nuclear weapons within months, but they already have...
Shahab 3 conventional warheads which can reach as far as Israel.

29. Can you see a war of nuclear attrition in the mideast...
Edited on Mon Oct-06-03 11:21 PM by the_real_38
... We're going to see tensions like we've never seen. Israel is looking at the option of bombing Iran pre-emptively now (remember that they took out that Iraqi Nuclear reactor in the 80's), from what they've been saying (of course, they were talking about possibly killing Arafat a couple of weeks ago). I think Likud has been emboldened now that their countryman Wolfowitz is guiding our mideast policy.

31. The word is that Wolfowitz...
... has dual citizenship - U.S. and Israel. And through the PNAC, he wants to implement a policy toward the Arabs that's modelled on the Likud Party's (a paragon of success, that is, too).

I'm not sure what they're up to here (maybe that's the point), but I doubt it'll be more than a limited amount of trouble.

At any rate, "BFEE" deserve no credit.

Implying that Israel can so dominate the United States is about as believable as the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. In other words it is complete rubbish.

The Bush administration is at the controls. They choose the policy. They are responsible not Israel, Likud, or Sharon. If the U.S is embarking on a journey towards destruction it is because the Bush team is at the helm.

19. I don't know about that...
... Bush was trying to distance himself from that -> their leadership is nuts right now - and they couldn't have picked a worse time, with the situation in Iraq as hot as it is.

20. If anybody is, Bush is dragging us into WWIII
But I don't think the insanity in the Middle East will result in WWIII. The other big players - Russia and China - just don't have any overriding self-interest to jump in (for or against). They're happy to see us duke it out on our own and waste ourselves in the process. Pretty much the same goes for Europe, except they would never jump in against. But they aren't going to jump in with us either.

25. It's not just Israel
It's not just Israel...IT'S BOTH THE USA AND ISRAEL...if we got those cronies from Nixon's past (Rumsfield, Cheney, O'Neill is gone though), then we wouldn't be getting into WW III. It baffles me to think that so many people supported Bush during the 2000 campaign. It also baffles me that so many Democrats played chicken shit during the 2002 congressional election.

26. Why can't this country ever accept responsibility for its actions
We blame Latin Americans for our drug problem. We blamed Asians for Korea and Vietnam. Now it is Jews and Arabs for our involvement in the Middle East. Our leaders are the problem not Isreal, Syria or anywhere else.

. No-one is blaming Jews. Most Jews don't support the war, but there is a powerful coalition of fundamentalist and minority Likud supporters who do.
