Bible claims of oil in Israel and WND is promoting it
So believes John Brown, an evangelical Christian and founder and chairman of Zion Oil and Gas, a company he and others poured several million dollars into to drill a hole 15,000 feet deep that will as soon as next week tap a rock interval that may contain oil.

"The Bible spells out where the oil is," Brown told WND yesterday outside his drilling rig off a highway between Haifa and Tel Aviv.

"It's very specific. Now we're here to find it, and I know that when we do, the Scriptures will come alive for everyone who hears about it. And Israel will have enough oil not to worry about all the implications of the Arab states using their oil to threaten and gain power."

Brown, pointing to the Bible he says he always carries with him, referred to several biblical passages he is certain indicate where to find petroleum. He stressed that two passages, detailing God's blessings to each of biblical patriarch Jacob's 12 sons, are very specific:

"Let Asher be blessed ... and let him dip his foot in oil." – Deuteronomy 33:24

"Joseph is a fruitful bough by a well ... blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that couches beneath shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head." – Genesis 49: 22-26

Hal Lindsey puts in his wacko two cents:

And WND is promoting a book, too:

4. OK.......
:eyes: You can twist the bible around to find clues about everything if you try hard enough. Or, you can just make shit up. What are the chances of finding oil in the Mid-East if you drill down far enough? They'll probably tap into someone else's pool eventually.

5. This nutcase is taking "oil" really out of context
In Biblical times, cooking oils were a luxury, used to annoint kings, IIRC...

12. As a Christian, I am embarrassed to associate myself with these people
The üb3rfundies make such a big deal about reading a testament per day, and now these claims...

I don't think Jesus, or any of the OT kings, would have particularly cared for being annointed with Saudi light sweet crude.:eyes:

14. LOL!
"don't think Jesus, or any of the OT kings, would have particularly cared for being annointed with Saudi light sweet crude" That has to be one of the funniest things I have read in days!!!

You shouldn't be embarrassed, you should be proud of your religion and work to take it back from the crazies (and these people are a PRIME example)! I do understand what you are saying though...I am embarrassed by Log Cabin Republicans! How can any self-respecting gay man or lesbian be a republican?!?

You're right in that I shouldn't be ashamed of my faith...another poster made a point in this thread about Biblical warnings against false prophets. I am well aware of said warnings, and by no means are they limited to Revelation (Matthew 24 for example).

I shouldn't let the false prophets get me down. Often nearby liberals see me as a "sane" Christian in a sea of legalistic fundies who lust whenever they see Passion of the Christ.

10. Exactly!
They're two different things. Doy! Culture differences hon! Oy! It would help if people knew of that culture. This is one reason why I'm glad I took this Bible History class in high school. It was purely historical and I learned so much about the culture and things like that. It really helped me with arguments such as this looney guy.

7. I don't recall any oil in my Bible unless
it's oil they used back then like with lantern's and the like. I don't think the Bible is talking about that kind of oil. :eyes:

One of the MSM evening news covered this nutball either last night or Monday I forget which. The guy may be nuts but he knows how to milk sheep for $$$$$...

11. Don't forget that lamp in the Temple that burned for eight days
obviously that's code for an infinite amount of oil!

I'm not sure if I feel sorry for this guy or not: on the one hand, everyone in the world thinks he's a loon; on the other hand, he wakes up every morning believing that this could be the day he saves Israel and the world. That has to feel pretty good...

13. "Coo Coo," "Coo Coo" The bible also talks about a deluge of ...
false prophets in the "last days" With the mass emergence of religious nuts coming out of the back woodworks somewhere proclaiming things that are biblically off base and infiltrating their warped ideologies into the way we govern our nation in an attempt to incorporate some twisted anti-christal system make me hurl.I guess I can take comfort in knowing that the Holy Bible (King James Version) warned of these false prophets.I know the end will come and the dreaded book of Revelations must be fulfilled.I just don't want to be part of the group that ushers that in. You know, that group of people who are convinced their leader is a holy man? Those people who take the mark of the beast. You know Republicans? LOL (ROFL) (SARCASM)
