3. Those people aboard
have to be scared shitless. How the hell are they going to get that thing down? My thoughts are with all aboard.

11. Methinks
the tires will rip upon landing, there will be a lot of sparks shooting from the bare rims, and everyone will be ok! I've seen similar landings where the front landing gear would not deploy at all, and the plane skidded to a grinding halt on it's fusilage.

May the Lord and Lady watch over these people, and see them safely land.

7. They pivot...
That is how the plane is steered on the ground.

8. Undoubtedly the "deferred maintenance" so many airlines...
are having to adopt to survive the post-deregulation (capitalist) frenzy.

9. Hubby, who used to fly, says harder than landing gear not down.
All my thoughts with these frightened passengers, and the pilots' skills.

13. per my air traffic controller spouse...
the wheel's like a grocery cart wheel. It will correct itself once it lands. No big deal. Happens all the time.

19. Not sure
about that....

I know the smaller commuter aircraft have "free-castering" nose gear and the on-ground steering is done with differential thrust and differiental braking....but this thing....

btw: what's the make and model of this plane? Looks like an Airbus 300 series to me....

14. That would make it tough for the wheels to roll, all right
Good Lord. How did they ever get into that position? I wouldn't have thought it physically possible.

18. Hopefully, they will soap up the runway and make it slick for the
front end as it grinds to a halt.... one can only hope everything works out ok for these pilots and their passengers.
