Patrick Leahy effectively told a large segment of the voting population that he doesn't know if Roberts is good or bad, but if he is bad it doesn't matter because he (Leahy) is going to vote for him anyway and if he is everything we on DU think he is, its just our tough luck. Leahy's not going to lose anything either way. With senators like this we don't need enemies.

In addition, the Pentagon more or less told Congress to their collective faces that they are irrelevant. No surprise to the rest of us. Congress reacted with hot air and little else.

i have been trying for days to get my act together and write a news-letter type thingy to pass out at the local grocery-store parking lot. However, every day i'm either emailing over some vote or error in reporting, or, current events leave me so dumbfounded i can't do anything. This is truly too too much, bordering on insanity or perhaps beyond. I want so much to wake up.
