Would Hastert "bulldoze" Galveston too?

Will we soon hear Hastert declare "It looks like a lot of that place could be bulldozed" with respect to a Galveston that may well be fully destroyed by Rita? It has problems not unlike NOLA in that it was barely above sea level when it was creamed by another hurricane in the early 20th century. The island was subsequently "raised" with materials that may well wash away with a Cat 5 storm surge.

Let's see how Republicans all of a sudden make the most heartful statements about hurricane victims in Galveston and other Texas areas. The crying of the Repub politicians will just break our hearts, no?

And this will be the beginning of their end. Because the blogs and some of the MSM will nail them on the different responses, then Repubs will descend into FISCAL HELL trying to determine how to pay for everything. All this while Iraq descends further into civil war.

My heart goes out to all the victims of these storms, for sure, but as far as how the Repub politicians react, I've got some popcorn ready to pop.

It's a wonderful, historic city, but I wouldn't want to live there. Read up on the 1900 hurricane if you dare. Great story. Sad, pitiful story.

Alot of their healthcare is through UTMB, if I'm not mistaken.

Huge popultion of impoverished Americans almost everywhere, by my reckoning. And the oligarchs in power could give a fuck about the lot of us.

I'm better off than most, I have a computer, and the Internet. BUT, I have no car, no cable TV, no phone on which I can make affordable outgoing calls, no extra cash for a hotel room, and few friends in the region. If I lived in a hurricane evacuation zone, I'd be fucked with a capital F. I've been poor. VERY poor, living in my car, Y's, and Salvation Army housing in the past. I KNOW what it's like to be desperately poor. I thank various deities every day that I'm better off than I was a few years ago. I worry for those who are still in desperate situations... and I'm sure that many Houstonites have no way to get out. The lesson of Katrina has been lost on those who could actually make a difference.
