So much moaning and hopelessness around here lately...
All I have to say is stop it people! Stop it now before you bring us all down! We have to keep fighting this no matter what. If you keep moaning and complaining and dwelling on the negative nothing is going to get better. One of the main reasons these crooks get away with so much is because we let them. That's right, if you don't bother fighting and bitch and moan about how bad everything is, they're going to destroy our country. Is that what you want? Seriously, what if you let that happen and there was a chance you could've saved it and you didn't act, wouldn't you feel bad?

That's it! It stops NOW!

We're going to keep fighting until the very end. It's not going to be easy, but we have to get our country back! We HAVE to!

Okay?

Sorry for the rant.

1. I went to the local peace rally today ..
Edited on Wed Sep-21-05 10:12 PM by Maat
observing the U.N. International Day of Peace.

Yep, this 47-year-old mom took the nine-year-old daughter, as we marched in a candlelight vigil, which was covered by the press.

And we chanted and got a great peace consciousness going.

On edit:
And, I'm a member of both the national and local PFLAG (Parents, Family & Friends of Lesbians and Gays). We support the families involved.

And, I'm active in Americans United for Separation of Church and State and Democracy for America.

It is a start.

10. I agree, though I am a fan of bitching and moaning
I think the posts that get to me, and maybe this is what Independent_Liberal is getting at (correct me if I'm wrong here), are the posts that seem to show up almost immediately after something positive seems to happen, i.e. the recent Kerry/Edwards speeches, John Conyers doing another one of his amazing things, etc. These posts usually consist of something along the line of, "Well, don't get too excited people, the Repubs have everything sewn up, they run everything, they will figure out another way yet again to steal another election, we're done for, what's the use?"

Now, I'm not saying there isn't truth to these things -- the Repubs do run every branch of the government, they have stolen eletions, etc., but they are NOT all-powerful unless we allow them to be, unless we just lay down and say, okay, run me over again. There are lots of us who aren't ready to give up, and who will keep fighting, even when the fight seems an impossible up-hill battle.

Why can't we celebrate the good things that do happen? And, why do so many people here seem to blame the Dems. Yeah, a lot of them have been wussies, and continue to be that way, but what about the spineless Repukes? I cannot believe that every single Republican in the Senate and House are neo-cons. Why aren't they standing up, if they think things are going too far, and say something? I know the Dems are supposed to be the opposition party, but is it not also the responsibility of people within a particular group to yell 'Enough', when enough is enough? It should not be all up to the Dems.

And yes, we have a part to play too, and many of us are. I'm not asking people to not post certain things, say certain things, etc., as I would not want someone to tell me what I can and cannot say (forum rules notwithstanding).

For what it's worth......:)

13. Thanks. We should be okay here, just cut off.
The surrounding areas will most likely flood, but we're up high here in the hills. I have very little faith in our electrical service, though. I'll stay online as long as I can.

Thanks, again.

15. Feeling down is normal. But we should be happy we finally see
Edited on Thu Sep-22-05 12:24 AM by applegrove
the truth has won. Polls demonstrate the majority of Americans actually like reality. Sit down in a quiet place and really take that in. Breath deep. There is more death & destruction on the horizon - avoid the news.

But it is hard. So for all you who feel it is too much - do something to rebuild your strength. Hang away from the news, mentor a youth, play with the kids next door, help an evacuated family, whatever.

Keep the balance. Cause we all need to be ready with bells on come the next election cycle.

If there is an economic downturn -you know what... that was the one George Bush - like a child - decided he could skip. It will be okay.
