2. Within the 72 hr window, this move is about as big as I've seen...
I doubt it will get all the way to Louisiana. But that being said, Louisiana will feel the effects...

8. our local NC station's weather forecast shows
an unusual blip in the track. Just curious if anyone else is watching their local and seeing the same thing.

It showed the track, and while there is a upward, Northern track in the immediate forecast, Rita takes a sudden leftward almost southward turn (by tomorrow if not sooner) and then she's heading straight toward Tx.

without that blip, she's heading for La.

that's just what my eyes are seeing.

3. Yes, so I've noted ...
he says drily.

Wife and kid are booked on a flight to AZ tomorrow night.

I still have hurricane prep to do, so I'm in for the duration. Wee-hee!

5. That is what I just found out my cousin is doing. Her hubby is staying
but she and the kids are now at her parents.

This seems to be a pattern developing.

How much do they expect it to slow by the time it hits Houston? Will it still be a 4 or 5? Does it have to go over much land to slow it down first?

4. This news is as bad or worse than the explosion today in intensity...
The loss of life, the economic damage, and the effect on energy prices nationally are tied to the track. And this track is about as bad as it gets.
