I don't think so. I think NG units will immediately be mobized to assist local police in keeping order. Socialites will be photo'd helping the poor. Texas will be showcased as the ultimate Red State's reaction to a hurricane. Bushco will try to use this to undo the damage from Katrina.

My thoughts and concerns lie with the people of Houston; I lived there for 10 years at one point. And Galveston is a national treasure, the architecture, the history . . . a sleazier, unpainted version of Charleston. The destruction of these two cities would take the national economy with it. Let's all pray Rita doesn't come to town.
