Is the state & local government doing what they can to help with the evacuation especially if it's a low income area where people might not own cars.

If they want to play it smart this hurricane - get the school buses in there that are ready to pick up people who can't get out because of transportation.

2. The state and local govt
are the ones doing the evacuation. They say they have buses on TV. At a news conference this AM, Mayor of Houston was giving phone number for people who need help to call and make arrangements for transportation if they need it.

3. Saw Cantore today on the Weather Channel

and he said last night it was taking 9 hours to go 24 miles. He said they have not initiated Contraflow and he didn't know if they would.

Edited to add: He even said Corpus Christi was a better bet than Houston.

4. Just saw that they will be initiating contraflow on I-45
starting today through to Buffalo Texas (which is halfway to Dallas). People are becoming crazy down here. We talked with most of our neighbors last night and we are all staying. We are fortunately on fairly high ground and are in the very north part of Harris County and have stocked up on water and food. We closed our business yesterday, moved all furniture and equipment into the interior of the building. Can't do much else but pray. Keep us in your prayers - sounds like we are going to need it.
