Another report says Brits caught planting bombs
Just found this article, from the Washington Post. I think there is definitely a D-Notice here in Britain on this story:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/21/AR2005092102124.html

Iraqi police had arrested the Britons on Monday for allegedly shooting at police and planting explosive devices. British troops then broke the men out of jail by ramming an armored vehicle through a wall. In response, Basra residents and police revolted, attacking British forces in the area.

Our media in Britain has definitely been silenced on this. It's outrageous.

2. If the media reported this there would be uproar here
That's why I think Blair & Co have issued a gag order. People i've spoke to here can see there's something wrong in Basra which they can't put their finger on. We aren't being given all the information which has been reported elsewhere. Good job some of us try to look behind the headlines for the real news.

3. Do what you can to ferret it out and get the word out. Do you do
call-in talk shows over there? That might be your best bet for media access.

4. Yes, managed to get through a few times
They don't really have the call in programmes on the tv over here, but they usually have them on the radio. Have managed to get through a couple of times to speak out, before the invasion of Iraq. I'll definitely be calling in as soon as I can about this. I'm sure others will as well.

5. I hope so. And don't let them paint you as being tin foil hatters if can
help it. (Not being familiar with your radio talk shows I have no idea if they are as bad as ours or not. I'd like to think not.)

Where's Greg Palast and the BBC?

7. As far as the BBC goes: If there's a D-Notice, they couldn't report it
In fact, I think even mentioning the existence of a D-Notice is prohibited under a D-Notice.

And Palast hasn't really done much on stories based in Iraq, since he's not there -- he's usually in the US.

11. Not seen anything from Palast
And yesterday the BBC treated its licence fee payers to a montage of clips showing how the "unruly mob attacked the brave British soldiers on a daring rescue mission" (Not actually their words, but certainly the implication) together with footage of some of the soldiers involved who gave their personal accounts of being attacked. One reporter said that there were "rumours" that the Brits had planted bombs, and that was it really.

I've contacted the BBC a number of times over their footage, perhaps other members of this forum would like to also contact them? See this link:

8. What the hell is going on in Iraq?
Are we starting to see behind the curtain? Are WE the insurgency?

12. Nothing a Bush would be involved in would surprise me
and that goes for Blair now - he's been too chummy with Bush for my taste.

Also remember: These are the people of Iran-Contra and Negroponte's Death Squads

and Negroponte did take over from Bremer for several months - more than enough time to get stuff like this into play.

Tin foil hat? Nah...history.

13. I would guess responsible for some of it
Do a search on the proactive preemptive operations group. I'm sure the US isn't alone in "proactively preempting" terrorism.

10. Article says they are accused by Iraqi officials of planting bombs
I'm not trying to exonerate or apologize for these guys, but where is the evidence that they actually were carrying out false-flag bombings? Yes, I believe they had explosives, anti-tank weapons, and lots of guns in their Toyota, and that they tried to evade an Iraqi checkpoint, and ended up shooting it out with the militia.

But, isn't all that consistent with the standard kit that SAS commandoes carry around with them? Were they actually caught in the act of planting bombs? Were any actual explosions attributed to them?

These guys may well have been a dirty-tricks operation -- maybe Zarkawi is actually an agent provovcateur -- but I want to see the proof before I draw such conclusions.

14. Last time I looked
the TV stations were fuzzing out the faces of the two guys, which is just utterly ridiculous. The problem right now is that both sides are furiously spinning this - so from some parts of Iraq we have 'false-flag operation' & from the Sun we have a salute to the brave boys of 22nd regiment.
