Okay finalizing our preparations here--need animal question answered

I have an outside dog.
He cannot come in under any circumstances. He snaps at the baby, and I can't bring him where he might hurt her, especially if he is scared.
I have an alcove off my back porch--I had removed the screen so the dogs could lie up there during the winter--there are rugs and blankets and a bale of hay for their warmth.
We will probably have some flooding--but my house is on pier and beam so we are off the ground.
My question is--do you think if I put plywood over the screen door and left a small area for him to get in and out of...that it would be okay?
Or does anyone else have any other suggestions?

We have crates for all of our animals.
I guess I may end up putting him in it, but he totally freaks out.
We have to medicate him to put him in it.

We had a very nervous Golden and he did a lot better during storms if he was in his crate. It was even better if it was covered. Otherwise, he paced the floors and cried.

The current models has it going right over the top of us.
However, we are far enough inland that we will be okay, but not sure him being outside is a good thing.

Too much shit is going to be flying around, the situation is going to be too dangerous for man or beast. I understand about the baby/dog conflict, but please, if you love your dog, muzzle him so he doesn't hurt your baby, and bring him in with you.

13. Can you sequester your pooch in a high room indoors...

where it will not have contact with the child? My mother has a very unfriendly pooch that really despises strangers, and she puts him in her bedroom when company is over. He stays in there almost all day (save bathroom breaks) if need be.
