3. Other: Option #2, #3, #4, and the Wellstone assassination hammered home
the message...we can whack you at any time.

PLUS the Bushevik Anthrax Killer's message, too. We can send you anthrax and then we'll "investigate" ourselves...like Hitler investigated the Concentration Camp excesses.

(consisting of a call to the perps "Good job.")

4. Um, because they can't?
Because the GOP not only controls the Senate, but also the committee that oversees the nomination hearings?

Sorry to say it, but it's going to take not only the Dems but a few rogue Reps to defeat the nomination. And with the GOP stranglehold on the Senate, I wouldn't expect any miracles.

5. I don't expect miricales...
A filibuster would be good if they would make the case to the public, but they're afraid to make the case. Even without a filibuster, I think some unity would at least be a worthwhile exercises in party politics.

6. Other
They won't stop the confirmation because they don't have enough votes.

7. Filibuster is an option...
but unity for the sake of principle is also meaningful. Lack of principle and guts is all we seem to get from this crew.
