Ok, Houston is about to be hit by the 3rd largest Hurricane in recorded history. What about the thousands of people stuck in the Astrodome?

1. I'm pretty sure the Dome has been emptied...
I heard yesterday only about 300 evacuees left in Convention Center next door.

2. They have been moved out. Reliant park is locked down.
The buildings there were not designed to survive
a category 4 or 5 hurricane according to this
Houston Chronicle article.

3. It was down to hundreds before Rita was forecast to hit
Houston. They had been moved to shelters, apartments, or walked away.

Now those that were left are all gone. Mostly to other states.

4. All Houston-area evacuees were moved
most of them to permanent housing of their own (apartments, thousands of them, utilizing FEMA financial assistance for housing subsidies for which the City of Houston has already been reimbursed, as of Tuesday, Sept. 20.
