2. Blanco's on TV
talking about a potential 15 inches of rain. She's saying, go north, not east, not west, north is the only safe route out. Louisiana just can't catch a break.

5. I am in West Houston and
and I am feeling better that this storm is turning to the East. Sorry for those who it is turning to... I said last night it might do this. I think we have a cold front coming in and it is pushing this hurricane eastward...

11. Cold front-really? It's so damn hot out here now.
We haven't left yet and are watching closely. We haven't left because we don't want to go broil on a highway, going no where.
What I want to know is why can't we go to Corpus? They evacuated, hotels are empty, and they are full everywhere else. Does not compute...

6. Unfortunately, Ma'am, It Is Likely
Only a very small increase in the water levels would be sufficient to press through the patched portions of the floodwalls.

8. If its truly taking a NE'ly turn, then Florida would be in trouble...
since its basically due south of NOLA now. Do you really mean it is moving towards the NE now, or do you mean its moving more North than West?

12. please check latest satellite maps. it is now projected on a more
north and east path than originally predicted. The cone is covering more and more of LA now. Before, it mostly covered the shore to TX. This is a big change and could really be a blow to an area that has already seem so much death and devastation.

14. You don't really mean "east" then.
Or it would be moving at a heading of 1-90 degrees. You mean its turning more rightward relative to its path earlier. Thanks.

9. I have noticed the same thing. One other thing that
has been bothering me, and I do not know if anyone else has seen it, but one shot in particular of the levee was a straight crack down the middle. If it was shown again I have not seen it. There were rumors of people seeing a barge crash into the levee. As far as I know they are just rumors. But if the crack appeared straight down, why were there no cracks beside it? If Katrina caused that crack she was right on target. Am I making something of nothing? Or is my tinfoil hat too tight?

15. This may be horrible to say, and I feel aweful for saying it....
But does anyone else actually feel that it would be a good thing if this storm blew over NOLA, an area that is already most evacuated and destroyed, than blow over a more heavily populated, and intact South Texas.

It's such a horrible thought considering the state of LA right now, but I just can't shake this thought. Someone needs to show me why I'm wrong.

16. Not horrible to me;
I'm waiting for traffic to ease to get out, and would be really happy to just stay put. No hotel rooms available, no flights available, we're sort of stuck. NOLA is already pretty empty though I also don't wish Rita on anyone.

17. Yeah, nobody "wishes" Rita on anyone.....
But it is prudent to examine how the damage would be less impactful if it happened over NOLA. Just a thought, you know?

20. No, you're not horrible.
I was thinking the same thing. And feeling mighty guilty for thinking it. But in reality, it's true. The damage has already been done, nearly everyone is gone...

I hate it, but the sad fact is the damn thing has to hit somewhere...

If you think about it, it is the most American city in the whole country. Best of and worst of us all. That beautiful place with its huge heart and soul. I can't believe this is happening.
