NASCAR driver's Katrina charity auction yanked from eBay has been relisted
There was a thread here yesterday about Robby Gordon selling a helmet on eBay to help Harrah's employees affected by Katrina. The auction was yanked because of bogus bidding (people can be such assholes) but not before the auction price went to $10 million. It's been relisted on the site with the help of a professional company that handles charities.

The helmet that Robby Gordon threw at Michael Waltrip was temporarily pulled off the online auction site eBay on Wednesday after bidding exceeded $10 million.

The site ended the auction because it was unable to verify the legitimacy of the bids and because Gordon didn't have the proper documentation showing that he planned to donate the proceeds of the sale to charity, eBay spokesman Hani Durzy said.

<snip>

Gordon threw the helmet at Waltrip after they were involved in an accident during Sunday's race at New Hampshire International Speedway.

Gordon was fined a total of $35,000 and docked 50 driver points by NASCAR for the actions

1. Good. Good to see some bad publicity against NASCAR(Bush backers).
Waltrip is the worse offender of that though. He said that Bush "just understands NASCAR". :wtf:? There is not much to understand about cars running in a circle hours on end and burning up Saudi (Terrorist) oil.

:D

2. That was Darrell Waltrip I think, not Michael
What bad publicity? I think it's a great thing Robby Gordon is giving money to people affected by Katrina.

8. Ok, I admit I'm probably wrong
I did see Darrell do some kind of commentary for the Bush Gang. I must've missed Michael's comments.

3. Actually, isn't Gordon a Dem?
I seem to remember when Fahrenheit 911 came out, he required his pit crew to see it!

I'm not a NASCAR fan btw, just thought this was kinda cool...

5. That was Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Robby Gordon is from California, definitely not in the NASCAR mold. He moved over from open wheel to NASCAR a few years ago. He might have a temper, but he's a pretty cool guy. He's the only driver I know that goes out into the campgrounds during a race weekend to meet fans. He'll play horseshoes with ya and have a beer or two. :)

I do remember Darrell saying goofy shit on TV. There's probably a video floating around somewhere on the net.
