I think Houston is doing a fine job getting 2.5 million people out of
the area....remember, Texas already had 250,000 extra people from Katrina and with all the evacuations from Port Arthur to Corpus Christy...lot's of people to move...but believe it or not, the traffic is beginning to clear south of town, and in about 18-24 hours, everyone will be out that wants out.

3. All I'm seeing on TV is a 50 mile long parking lot. People running out of
gas on I45 trying to go north.

6. yeah, that's true. But look at the traffic coming in from Galveston
and vicinity. It's a ghost town down 45 south.

17. Galveston only has 60,000 people
and it's a barrier island. Most people on barrier islands have been through enough canes to know the drill. Especially now that the forecasting has gotten so much more accurate.

7. What about all the people at the lined up at the Greyhound Station
without any money? They chained the doors closed so people would not rip the place apart. Do they have a plan to get those people out?

13. We know. We can see it's a clusterf**k.
People are out of gas because they didn't open the inbound freeway lanes to outbound traffic.

I don't get threads like this.

22. Open the Damn Contra Flow Lanes on I-45N STILL NOT DONE!..
from current Transtar photos. The public officials have lied their ass off on TV that this is done but yet it's not. I would start with that first. Thanks.

25. How about opening up the other side of the freeway for city exit so the
people could get out without sitting there running out of gas.

Or in other words, the very thing everyone is jumping up and down about...

18. Exactly
Even after the storm passes, it takes a day or so to find out you really got it.

I remember when Andrew hit Miami and all the weather heads were bragging about how the storm was no big deal, while down in Homestead it was like a nuke went off and none of them had a clue.

20. WTF?
Hello? They didn't open the southbound lanes until like an hour ago? People have been sitting in traffic for 15 hours and there is NO GAS? It took people 19 hours to get to Austin?

If this is a "fine job" I wouldn't want to have to be there when they fuck it up.

They're still stuck there and there's no gas at any of the stations near them.
