Normally, at this time of day, the heaviest traffic on I-45 about the Dallas/Ellis county line is Southbound, leaving Dallas. Even that traffic isn't actually heavy, it is just more than the Northbound into Dallas lane.
NOT NOW!
The Northbound lane has heavy, but flowing smoothly, traffic. Many of the cars have multiple people in them, and the pickups often have a lot of stuff in the bed of the truck.
There are no hotel rooms at all up here, and gas is scarce on the interstate. However, if you leave the interstate and go to someplace on a side road, gas can still be found, but you may have a small line. The locals are topping off their tanks too. Some stations have raised their rates, some haven't.
Many Northbound vehicles have started pulling over at Wilmer (1st town in Dallas County)& points North to gas up and seem to be trying to figure out what to do next.
As I type this, temperature is 100 degrees.
