repukes are all cowards--four friendships ended
they can dish it out but they can't take it.

I have four former friends who are classic middle-aged ignorant-as-all-hell, i-me-me-mine, bigoted repuke bushturd worshipers. Two are big-time dittoheads; two are not. These were friends since high school or college (25+ years).

I have now ended the last of the four friendships.

Over the years, all four have sent me untold Clinton-slamming, Gore-slamming, Kerry-slamming RW Rove-machine bullshit emails. The fourth and final of these idiots, a wise-ass extraordinaire who has always used "humor" to back away from his RW propaganda lies and bullshit when I've challenged him, has been barraging me with bushturd-defending, Nagin and Blanco-attacking emails for a couple of weeks now. I called him on his racism and on the lies he has been disseminating and I've attacked the bushturd for being a gutless puke of leader. My ex-friend, unable to counter a single one of my criticisms of the little shitstain who would be king, bailed out on any debate and asked me to quit sending him any further bush-hating emails.

I then realized that all four of these gutless (re)pukes took the same approach, gleefully dishing out lies and crap with both hands, but then crying Mama and taking their ball and going home as soon as I criticized their worthless asshole leader.

Fucking cowards. Just like little george.

6. That's how it works with bullies.
Once in school I was harassed by one, who taunted me to fight him. I know zero about such things, but I gave him a little feeble punch to his belly. He ran away crying. If only our "Democratic" politicians knew this. :grr:

42. Yep - feeble-minded bullies is what they are.
about 40 years ago, when I was in the 4th grade, there was this girl in our class that was REALLY poor. Her clothes were ragged, dirty. Her hair was always matted. Everyone always made fun of her and called her names, etc. No one would even THINK of playing with her at recess, so she usually stayed inside during recess (I suppose to avoid all the hassle).

Anyway, I would stay inside lots of times and play jacks or whatever with her, cause I really felt bad for her. Then, I got so sick of hearing the bullies teasing her and putting her down (she really was a nice person, just really shy, I remember).

And with me being a bit of a tomboy, (I have three brothers and no sisters), she was getting teased once too often to suit me - so, I let em have it!! Pretty soon, here comes the teacher - I got a whack with a paddle because I was fighting in school. I really didn't care, cause I knew those bullies needed the fight they got from me!! They quit teasing her after that and I was pretty satisfied with the outcome.

I just bet those bullies grew up to be big bu$hco fans. Don't know what made me remember that, and sorry for the lengthy story.

57. Maybe so.
I wonder if it is our "formidable" years that shape our political thoughts? If there is something that happens to us to make us believe the way that we do? I just don't know.

I have a daughter that is a die-hard rePuke. I really don't understand that. I know I didn't raise her to be. I also know that she is a very caring person, so I don't understand her political opinions, and can't discuss with her either - I don't mind leaving behind relationships with all other rePukes, but, I just can't let a relationship with my daughter go.

Thankfully, my other daughter and my son are definitely NOT rePukes (they don't discuss with their sister either). I just hope that someday soon she will see the light, and realize what liars and cheats these people are, and that they are only "all about me, me, me and I don't give a damn what happens to anyone else". Here's to hoping she crosses over to the good side:

52. People send him/ her right-wing bullshit;
he/she replies with facts, trying to enlighten them. They pick up their ball and go home. He/she writes them off.

Not that hard to understand.

I have friends for many reasons -- we grew up together, went to college together, we're cousins, our kids go to school together, and so on. We're not all on the same page politically, but we've found a reason to be friends. If one of them starts to tell me what I know to be lies about politics, I'd do the same thing as the OP.

What's odd about the OP's trying to disabuse them of their false beliefs? I'd try to do that for someone I considered a friend.

Maybe the civil war era was similar, I'm not a historian, so I wouldn't know.
I don't defend your ex-friends, but I do mainly blame Reagan's getting rid of the fairness doctrine and the rise of hate-filled-inflame-the-passions-of-the-under-educated-and-under-informed-populace right-wing hate-radio.

They must be talking trash at church, because several of the people I went to college with 30 years ago just really preach the evils of the "liberal media". That just happens to be my litmus test for whom I am tolerant. The country and the world are at stake and it all requires a message- get the hell out of my life.

28. What made the 5 of you friends in the first place?
Friendship implies common goals, common interests, enjoyment of ones company, companionship. It's obvious that you didn't share the same political philosophy so what did you share to classify them as "ex-friends"? Did you go to class together, enjoy the same books, like the same movies? Did you enjoy hanging out and drinking a beer or two and talking about sports? Did you go to Vegas together and lose a butt-load of money at the blackjack tables and laugh about it the next week to all the people that didn't go with you? Were you on the same softball team or basketball team? Could you not wait to get together to play poker every Saturday night?

I guess I'm asking is, not why do you hate them now, but why did you consider them friends in the first place?

Edited on Thu Sep-22-05 04:59 PM by leftofthedial
the other two I met in college

we all live in different parts of the country/world and rarely get together in person anymore.

two were fairly liberal Dems in college. I don't know what happened to them. I think one may have become religiously insane.

one certainly became a religiously insane shell of a human quite a while ago; we stayed in contact because I was godparent to their first son (a weird role for an atheist--I think they thought they could "save" me)

the other was always conservative-libertarian, but fairly thoughtful about it. we used to debate in a very healthy way. his philosophy and ability to argue actually helped me to form my ideas. now he is just a slogan-spouting idiot. he couldn't defend a position on a dare and chickens out immediately when you challenge his bullshit Limbaugh-esque assertions.

We don't mention the subject with him. Our daughter, an ardent Democrat shrugs it off and says their votes offset. But it was only two rightie friends, not four. The similarity was that both of them sent me all kinds of pro-Bush, anti-liberal garbage with glee and anticipation until I started arguing back with facts and reliable links of information. Now they have both decided they don't want to keep arguing politics anymore. :nopity: Funny how these declarations both came when it was their turn to hit back and refute my arguments.

Anyway, I terminated those two very long friendships because of my conviction that these people were not the good people I first believed they were. Sad, but I see this going on all over the place. Kind of scary, too.

41. You're better without them...
I did the same with a friendship that has lasted for over 30 years, but I decided that in the future, any friendships I cherish will have to be based on honesty. I have bit back words, tried to ignore things, told myself it was just that one area we disagreed on, then had enough. I could tolerate repukes, and some who claimed to be Democrats but were racists or homophones, but hid it under thinly veiled humor...I could tolerate it more before Chimp.

So much misery has been caused, so much death, and suffering, and real tragedy, that I can no longer tolerate those who follow such a man, or tolerate the same ugly prejudices that the repukes perpetuate. Too much is at stake. Besides, I have my beautiful family, all liberal, or if not liberal, neutral leaning liberal.

You are right...they are cowards, and you are too good a person to have to tolerate cowardly friends. Besides, even though it's in cyberspace, you have lots of us here who more closely believe the same things you do, and hold the same ideals.

49. I'm Getting to the Point...
...where I can't stand the town I live in. Santee, CA. used to be such a cool place, but in recent years it's become so upper-class & Republican. The town has lost its' soul. When I was younger it wasn't really upper-class, & I liked it that way. You know how people always want the poor people out of their town? I actually want the upper-class ones out of mine, & especially the Republican ones! They are so self-centered & boring. Especially the kids.
