21. It's true. I'm 52 now.
He met my Mom in kindergarten.

They wanted to get married but Arkansas has a silly law not letting nine year olds marry.

4. Of course it isn't a credible news source.
But unless I'm mistaken there are still libel laws in this country and ANY publication credible or otherwise would have to be run by MANIACS to run that story without SOMETHING to back it up. Right?

15. Its very hard for public figures to sue for libel in the US
If the National Enquirer calls you a drunk, and you're a nobody, you could sue, and probably win, because nobody knew who you were until the Enquirer dropped your name. But if the Enquirer calls Chimp (a public figure) a drunk, Chimp would not only have to show it's false, but prove that the Enquirer knew it was false, and published it anyway, with the express intent of damaging him. That's very difficult to do.

That's probably why the Clinton's never sued over Bill's "love child".

PS: Libel laws are quite different in Britain. Just ask Kate Moss.

8. They may not be credible but
this story they put out has a real good chance of being true from the reports Im seeing. They have lawyers and theyre not totally stupid about repercussions of false allegations and what that could cost them.

10. I subscribed to NE for a few years.
It is totally different from those "woman gives birth to space alien" rags. I would believe this story. But even if you don't, trust me, NE readers will. And guess whose supporters read NE by the million? (Hint: many of them live in Gulf Coast states.)

I don't read the inside but I can't help but read the cover standing in the checkout line at the market. Me & about 200 million others.

Also it has been right on a lot of gossip. I'm thinking OJ, Peterson, Wacko Jacko. etc.

22. Doesn't matter if its credible or not
just the fact that they're printing it means * has fallen big time. Have there been other NE negative stories about him? I only see it at the check out - so I don't know if there have been. Even just planting the seed in people's minds hurts the freak in chief. I for one think he has been drinking or doing something for a long time....

23. The Point Is Not Whether "The Enquirer" Is Credible, Sir
The point is that its editors believe this tale of drunken relapse will entertain and fascinate their readership. That readership pays little attention normally to politics, and it is of value to have the idea that this reptile has relapsed spread among them in the few moments that they do pay heed to what is our leading interest here. We know this creature is a wholly false front, a Potempkin man, a whited sepulcher: the circulation of this tale in this organ signifies those who keep closest watch on the pulse of the apathetic mass believe they are coming to that opinion themselves in their own way, and may be ready to regard him as they do the scoundrel ex-spouse or the prodigal child they have had to wash their hands of....

27. Thanks, Mr. Magistrate....
well said. And, why should we believe the M$M Liars over the "Enquirer" anyway. Haven't the Cables shown that they can "Enquire" down in the tabloids with the best of them since the "Bush" was installed?

How about years of "pretty blond females/freaky celebrities and others the M$M spent their time on while our America was going down the tubes from these Politicians who care nothing for us.

I'd rather they have been tracking the politicians who were running after Abramoff and Albaugh and the rest of the BUSH BOTS...than chasing females and sad characters like Michael Jackson.

Who knows what the "National Enquirer" was going to expose if their lead credible reporter handn't been "Anthraxed" right after "9/11." Their offices in Boca Raton, FLA were closed down for the rest of Bush's first term and the latest I heard the building was going to be torn down because of the "anthrax threat" still there.

25. Just As Credible as CNN, ABC, NBC, Fox & All the U.S. Media
that fear mongered the American people in cahoots with the White House into waging an illegal and unnecessary war in Iraq.

The National Enquirer is no less credible than any of the Corporate Media that fanned the flames of war in Iraq, that passed along the WMD lies from the White House, that gave the Swift Boat Liars a national audience and authenticity that they did not deserve, that calls white looters "finders" and black finders "looters".

Let's not get on some high horse and ridicule the National Enquirer.

As Jesus said, we strain at a gnat and swallow the camel.

26. Not only that, but, they are over 95% in their accuracy ratings.
That's better than most newspapers these days.

Enquirer HAD to tighten up their act some years ago after losing a few cases where they lost MILLIONS of dollars.
