The poor people in New Orleans made their own bed. They probably dropped out of school and had unlimited amount of babies. Of what I have seen on TV, they were mostly young. It is not our fault if they decided to overeat, have babies and watch Jerry Springer all day while they are on welfare.

We live in a time when now people are hired not for their ability but what color or race you are. Companies now have to have a certain amount of color/race by law.

The poor expected to be saved. They were yelling on TV that they wanted nicer living arrangements, to be fed and to be in air-conditioning. They were told to bring enough food to feed themselves when they were in the dome. Are we expecting the government now to do food shopping for each of these families each week?

They were told to by the man they say they worship and follow not to judge others and to help others, to love their neighbors as themselves. But they don't really listen to him. The thing about overeating just makes me seethe. Yes, many of the poor people in New Orleans are overweight. Many of them are of African descent, and in New Orleans, many of the people of African descent also have American Indian heritage - and people of African and American Indian heritage are high risk for a condition called insulin resistance, which is made worse by a diet high in carbohydrates - the staples of the poverty diet.

When a person with this condition consumes carbohydrates, they load on the extra weight because of their elevated levels of insulin. The extra fat then secretes even more insulin, making the person deposit even more fat from the calories they consume.

This condition is rife among the poor, and many of those overweight people this bitch was sneering at have the typical body fat distribution of the person who has insulin resistance - fat around the middle, the typical "apple" body of the insulin resistant.

And insulin resistance leads to Diabetes Type II when it is not controlled through proper diet and exercise - that same Diabetes Type II that is rampant in the American Indian and African American populations.

I hope someday that the woman who wrote this smug, self-satisfied letter, lives in poverty and knows what it is to be so despised.
