history shows that we do not always get fair treatment in our protests. There will be lots of people who feel VERY strongly about their views and are there to express them as loudly as possible.
Please be careful. Be aware of your surroundings. Be even more aware of what the police are saying and doing.

That was one of the first things I found really really useful here at DU. I went to the whole turn your back on bush thing for the 2nd inauguration and it woke me up a little. I really think that it would have only taken a minor scuffle to get the teargas flying. Snipers on the roof tops, helicopters everywhere, etc.
Once you gather that many people together that are pissed off the cops get scared. Scared cops equal dangerous cops.

if you take a back pack make sure it's one you don't care about. That way you can toss it if causes you trouble.
