Are we going to need a draft soon?
No troop reductions on the horizon in Afghanistan or Iraq. Troops to New Orleans, Mississippi and now Texas. Military is not meeting its enlistment quotas. A banging of the drums for an attack on Iran is now beginning. At what point will the draft have to be considered?

1. Are WE going to need a draft? I won't. You won't. Bush might.
"need" is in the context of grandiose military plans and a nation unwilling to follow.

3. I'll just defer to your answer.
Nothing I could have thought up would have been as succinct. :D

2. Wouldnt surprise me in the least if it is quietly being considered now
I thought a draft possible within three years not so long ago, but two huge natural disasters in a row have changed all that.

4. Get real.
Racial tension in this country has been increasing geometrically in this country since Katrina. You start a draft now and put people of different stripes in one barrack and it's going to be Thunder Dome.

5. Priority Central
Well, since we are now fighting Weather Qaeda, it doesn't look like we have the time or money to do much elsewhere. How many parents are going to think we need a draft? It's time to give the administration a little adult supervision. Time for playing with the GI Joe dolls is over.

6. The country needs a draft, so middle America can fully realize
how dangerous these neocons are. Too many people can comfortably live with the notion that "anybody who joins the military knows the risk".
Heard that before? This is blood we're talking about, and our elected officials need to be held accountable.
