If people can wade through that much in NO and if people can be stranded in hurricae Rita, we can certainly march and protest in the rain. We must make our moves now or our country will be lost forever, I fear.

2. I wanted to go, but medical problems have intervened.
I'm about one hobble away from using a walker. My spirit will be there.

5. I'll probably be chastised for this, but I do not think now is the time
for the protest. I feel it will come across as disrespectful to people who have lost family in Louisiana, especially N.O., as well as Mississippi. Now Texas is about to be hit "possibly" as hard as N.O. and it would be happening during the March for Peace. Only God knows how many people will lose their lives with this hurricane. It just does not feel right to me to go ahead with it right now. And "No" I do not know when the appropriate time would be. I am just giving my own personal opinion and it just does not feel right to me.

We have had a national disaster and (God forbid) possibly another one due to the evacuation plans of the local/state/federal Government's plans for evacuation for the people in Houston and Galveston. Their plan obviously consisted of telling people that it was mandatory that they leave. Only one problem . . . they didn't split up the evacuation routes. Now I've never been to the state of Texas; however, surely there is more than one road in and out of Houston and Galveston.

When I see the cars jammed, running out of gas, people walking around talking to each other, it reminds me of all disaster movies I have seen over the years. The people heed what they are told; however, there are so many people and not enough exits out of an many urban areas.

Surely there are more roads then I-45 (north I think) to move out of Houston and Galveston? They may be secondary, they may go farther out of the way then taking I-45, but eventually they would move people out of the most dangerous areas.

Now we have seen them evacuate and plan for a storm as strong, if not stronger, than the one that caused massive damage in N.O. as well as loss of life, for the last 2-3 days, and it doesn't look any better than the evacuation of those in New Orleans. The only difference is the ones in Texas are stuck in traffic due to poor planning. It was reported that there were over 800 buses requested and they only got 100. This makes no sense whatsoever.

If these people aren't able to move out on I-45, talk about a worse-case scenario with even more human tragedy beyond belief.

6. If not now, when?
If not us, then who? Can't think of a more appropriate time for it. They usually hustle bush out of town for these protests. This weekend he's here and he's going to have to witness it, with the gold star moms in the rose garden.

10. I wish I knew. I just figure that it will not get the coverage because
of the hurricanes, which is more important to me (right now)as far as families well being in Texas.

This March should be the top story of the week. It just seems to me (IMHO), that it would appear callous on our part, especially if there is more life lost. Yet, there is lost life in Iraq everyday. I haven't heard much at all, just what I've read in online papers.

So really your damned if you do and damned if you don't! It's quite a pickle for us all.

Last night, I believe, Mike Malloy said there would not be one elected official at this March. What about the Black Caucus, Barbara Boxer, Biden, Schumer (sp), Reingold, Conyers, Kennedy?

Anyone heard different? I hope so. I know the Air America Crew is planning on being there. I would do anything to go; however, I'm disabled and I would have to rent one of those wheelchairs to get around on. Plus, I would have to find a ride with someone, have the money to help with gas, have the money for a hotel room, etc. I haven't gotten a local paper in forever where I live so I do not know if I would have had a ride or not. I want to do something. I contribute money, I can answer phones, I can fill envelopes and mail them; however, not everyday.

Enough of my whining. By the way, how did the mothers get into the Rose Garden? Also, anyone talking about how many people will be there????

7. When would be a better time?
It wasn't the time for tax cuts or vacations or guitar-strumming or cake eating or fund raising, but George Bush doesn't care about the proper timing and neither should we. If we wait around for the absolute best time then we will never allow our voices to be heard.

Perhaps it's the perfect time because people are starting to wake up and realize that the Republican way of doing things leaves them high and (not so) dry. Perhaps we can remind people that global warming is a real possibility and should at least be studied. Remind them that we are no safer since 9-11. Remind them that while the rich are receiving tax cuts and oil companies are making record profits, the poor and middle class are shouldering the burden of this nation. Remind them that while Halliburton is doubling its profits, it is young men and women from poor and middle class families that are dying in a foreign land fighting a war that makes absolutely no sense. Remind them that the poor people in New Orleans are not the only ones who need to be rescued from a rising flood, there are poor all over this country who are drowning in debt and an unaffordable cost of living that has millions of families struggling to survive. Remind them that our rights are under attack with the Patriot Act and the Supreme Court being given over to radical extremists. Remind them that our voices are being muted with a bought and paid for corporate media that dare not breathe the truth for fear of losing access.

Thank you for your post because you made me remind myself of why I HAVE to be there tomorrow.

11. Please don't think ill of me. I'm on your side. It's just if there is a
a large loss of life (God forbid), but then I thought, there is loss of life everyday in Iraq. Like stated above, damned if we do and damned if we don't.

If it were not for people like you, nothing would get accomplished. I have always wanted to go to a March; however, I never had anyone to go with. I didn't know anyone who felt as passionate as I did about certain issues. No family wants to talk politics. All of my friends don't want to talk about politics OR religion so my only outlet is here at DU. If it were not for you all, I would have no one to discuss my passion with. I surf the web 7 days a week researching, looking, reading, saving interesting reports.

I know neocons and freepers lurk around too. I wish they would set up one board where the freepers could come into that one board. They wouldn't be allowed to come onto any of the other boards; however, we could debate some of the issues. No name calling and if that happened, immediately blocked from the site. I love political debate if you can talk to someone who knows what they are talking about and have a really challenging debate.

Have a safe trip, give them Hell, and good luck. I'll be watching and cheering you all on. So how many right wing-nuts do you think will show up? Besides here, has there really been any advertising regarding the March tomorrow? Just wondering?

14. If they can screw people over, we must speak out.
No bid contracts and no minimum wage or minority hiring regs and we should stay home and watch it on CNN? Billions of dollars stolen in Iraq and billions more wasted. Two thousand of our troops dead and tens of thousands of Iraqi's massacred and we should hold our tongue?

I board a train in and hour and a half and will be in DC at 7:00 am. I don't care if the press doesn't bother to notice. The resident in the White House will be notified that we stopped by when he gets back from his photo ops. It will have an impact, and will help our image abroad. We need to reassure the world that there are Americans with conscience who do not support this corrupt group.
