Alan COLMES Got Prez CLINTON to Help with Book
Alan's trying for Liberal $$$$. Who is going to buy it----Faux wingnuts or Libs who have a LOT more to choose from? The chapter titles sound a lot stronger than Alan does on air.

HELPING HAND

BILL Clinton helped Alan Colmes on his upcoming book, "Red, White, and Liberal" (ReganBooks), after Colmes sent him the chapter titled "Bill Clinton, Our Greatest President." Clinton responded with some suggestions, claiming the Brady Law made it harder for felons to buy guns and boasting how he got more poor kids covered by Medicare. Colmes' book (in stores Oct. 21) also features chapters entitled "Jesus Was a Liberal" and "Conservatives Are Downright Mean."

1. Oh my god. Is this published by Murdoch?
Liberals hate him. Conservatives love to hate him. What can poor Alan Colmes offer the reading public? This sounds as if it is being printed simply to provide documentary fodder for the next Hannity/Coulter/O'Reilly book.

10. Liberals hate him.
Conservatives love him because he makes us "liberals" look inept and stupid.

Colmes knows he's a stooge put on TV to make that high school droput Hannity look good.

3. My first thought: Why would Clinton bother with this guy?
My second, improved thought: Maybe this guy will learn a thing or two from The Big Dog.

5. Regan Books - Judith REGAN

On their homepage they're featuring their Dick MORRIS's latest. When she had her interview show on Faux, one of "her" authors was the KERIK dude, NYC Police Commissioner. The SMOULDERING gazes between the two of them, or from her to him while he went through his orphaned years or something like that, just about MELTED the t.v. screen. Also, when she asked him where he was at the moment the planes hit the WTC: Answer, "I was stepping out of the shower in my office after a workout."

Growing up on Long Island, Regan earned a BA in English from Vassar College. In the late 1970s, she studied voice and worked as a secretary before becoming a reporter for the National Enquirer. In 1987 Regan proposed a book on American families and their role models to Simon & Schuster. The editors were impressed, and she joined Simon & Schuster, developing a string of best-selling celebrity “tell-all” books, including those by talk show host Rush Limbaugh and radio personality Howard Stern. Her aggressive, sales-oriented approach was highly successful, but critics charged she was undermining publishing by manufacturing personality-driven books. In 1994 Rupert Murdoch gave Regan her own imprint at HarperCollins, ReganBooks, and a TV show on Fox News. A Manhattan resident, Regan is divorced and has two children.

Why she might be annoying:
Her son was born out of wedlock and she never married the father.
She divorced Robert Kleinschmidt, the father of her daughter, in a very angry divorce. The divorce battle went for over five years and went through dozens of lawyers and many judges, costing more than a million dollars.
When she published rival Rush Limbaugh's book, Howard Stern called her 'Judas Limbaugh.'
She wrote for the National Enquirer for three years.

Why she might not be annoying:
She looks like Isabella Rossellini.
She graduated Vassar College on a scholarship.
She has edited books from the left and right political viewpoint with out censoring ideas.
She ranked #94 in Entertainment Week Power List of 1993.

He needs to take some re-education courses in North Korea. Perhaps that can bring him to his senses.

7. I heard Colmes do a great job yesterday
He was coming to the aid of Peter Comejo, Green candidate for gov., who was trying to get a word in edgewise against Hannity about whether the rich pay too much in taxes. Hannity, of course, kept going on about how the top 1% pay like 50% of the taxes, whereas Comejo kept trying to explain that, even so, the rich pay a much lower RATE than those who have less. Hannity just wouldn't let him make his obvious point, knowing that FOX listeners are too stupid to understand what "rate" means. Then old milksop Colmes -- I have to applaud him -- gave a calm and complete explanation of how Comejo was talking about percentage of income and so on ..., a clear and understandable explanation that even made loudmouth finally shut up. I feel sorry for Colmes. He looks like the guy who gets sand kicked in face but at least he doesn't run away crying.

9. I used to listen to his radio show
I used to really Like Alan Colmes a number a years ago when he had a radio show. It was the only show in my area that was left leaning so I listened every day. He was the only one I could hear daily defending Clinton and attacking the republicans.

I thought he had a great radio show, was funny, and creative. He used to have a segement on his show called "radio graffiti" where callers would call in and say whatever they wanted however it could only be one sentence. His show was axed in my market (others too i guess) and he was gone....only to show up on Fox a couple of years later. Too bad he pretty much sucks on tv.
