Does anyone else have a sinking feeling??
That we just may see something as bad as what we saw with Katrina happen to Texas with Rita?

With what I am reading and seeing it would appear that thousands won't make it off the roads in time and even thousands more have been left behind, couldn't afford to leave, or couldn't get our because of the traffic congestion.

The thought of what might happen down there has made me sick to my stomach and has almost brought me to tears several times today.

I hope that nothing as horrible as Katrina happens, I seriously hope and pray that it doesn't...but with things as they are, and assholes in charge as they, I am terrified.

1. Well, even the "assholes in charge" must have learned something
from Katrina... so lets hope its nothing like NOLA.

2. Looks like Rita is weakening
other threads report a collapse of the eyewall. Also, though I am upset, I don't have the feeling of dread and impending death that I had before Katrina hit. So I think it will be bad, but not as bad as Katrina. Like you, I hope that all the drivers and passengers get out of that huge traffic jam and away from the coast soon.

4. but it will reform and it already has
Andrew did this before and intensified. It is very normal for hurricanes to do this. I have a sinking feeling this is going to be one of the worst things ever to hit this country, along with Katrina and we aren't going to recover for a long time. Think about this, Hurricane season doesn't end till October so we have a couple more weeks of this and i think they will just keep getting stronger.

3. It's been downgraded to a category 3 hurricane! That's a relief!
