What if 15 women came out and accused a democrat candidate of groping them
If that was Gray Davis or Cruz Bustamente who had groped and sexually harassed 15 women, the repukes would be all of this and trying to get either of these candidates out of office and in a courtroom for their sins.

Heck, we saw it with Bill Clinton even though Monica was consenting, Gennifer Flowers was a liar (having sex in a hotel that wasn't even built yet, but again she said it was consenting) and I'm still not convinced with Paula Jones.

What I see is major double standards when it comes to illicit sexual behavior and our elected politicians. If only 2-3 women came out and accused Arnold of sexual misconduct I would say that it was a publicity stunt. But the list is up to 15 which leads me to believe that Arnold is a pervert that should be reprimended for his actions, not elected as governor in this farce of an election. To me it's apparent everytime I see Maria Shriver (Arnold's wife) these days - she's gaunt and frowning, probably from years of putting up with her husband's boorish behavior.

The polls are showing that Californian's could be coming around and recognizing this election as a farce - some polls show that Davis could pull this one off.

But if California decides they want Arnold as their governor, then I feel sorry for those who tried to prevent this from happening and angry and those who think this beefcake can actually be a governor. California fairly elected a governor in 2002 who only 'crime' he has committed these past months was trying to deal with a horrible budget that to be honest was brought on by the Bush administrations failure to stop the Energy Companies (Bush's campaign funders) from bilking California over their poorly written energy bill.

What I find most odd is Bush's 'hands off' approach with the California Recall. You'd think a guy who had a chance to give California a Republican Governor and possibly help him win CA's 55 electorial votes has pretty much kept mum about the recall election. Maybe George realizes that it was his policies that put California in the budget crisis it has. Maybe Bush realizes that the Republicans are to blame for this circus and he doesn't need anything else to make his reputation any worse in our most populated state. Or maybe Bush doesn't want to alienate the religious right for supporting a republican candiate that could win but is pro-choice/pro-gay/pro-groping.

I pray constantly that Californians will come to our senses and allow Gray Davis to finish the term he was fairly elected to do. But my prayers may not be as strong as the will of lazy voters who can't be bothered to vote in regular elections but are thrilled to vote in this one so they could feasibly have "The Last Action Hero" as their governor.

And if Arnold prevails, I hope democrats do the right thing and 'recall the recall'. It's very feasible that Gray Davis may fall just shy of the 51% he needs to stay governor AND that the possible winner can become governor with far less than 51% of the votes. If this happens, our best choice is to recall the recall.

Hopefully everyone will get out to the polls today in California and stop this farce. Davis fairly earned the right to be governor; Republicans should try harder next regular elections.

That's what it would tell me. More folks lying for the dough, if this were targeting a Dem.

3. If any Dem
was accused of one-half the gropings, he would be crucified. He and his family would be raked over the coals, while PigBoy and Hannity trumpeted the loss of "family values" that sick, perverted Dems put across...blah,blah.blah.

That is why Dems need to hammer this Ahnold shit home all the way.

4. How about this: What if Democrats initiated a recall against a Repuke Gov
Let's say Bill Simon won this election in 2002 and democrats decided to recall that election?

Seriously - food for thought!

15. They may...
... recall whoever wins this recall.

Really, if Davis can be kicked out and anyone else can win with a pitifully small percentage of the votes, why would people not want to recall that person who has a place with so few actually supporting him?

18. Think about this for a recall on the recall
You only need signatures from 12% of those who voted in the last election. If turnout is low - it'll be easier to do a recall.

But if we do 'Recall the Recall' I hope that we don't have some 'Democratic Issa' stepping in to fund it. I think we can recall on our own merits.

But if there is any sort of questionable voting problems - this will go to the courts first!

5. I switched
I was leaning Yes on recall, Yes Bustamante--but Shickelgroper is a turd. All attitude and no substance. I will vote no just to keep him out of office.

6. You're not kidding....
The old double standard clinton paradox never fails on the debate shows. What are these wingnut talking heads supposed to say when confronted with that? They usually just snicker and shrug... Infuriating, isn't it.

I'm going on record saying that I predict Bustamente will be governor. That's just how I think it'll shake out.

I've said from day one that if the majority of Californians elect arnold, they deserve him. All you West Coasters that participated in the real election do not.

VOTE!!!

10. But a majority won't be elected him
Arnold could very well win with 30% of the vote.

And what irritates me more is Davis could lose with 50% of the vote (he needs 51%).

So half the people could say they don't want Davis as their governor BUT then 70% say they don't want Arnold.

The winner: Arnold
The Losers: Democracy and Californians

12. The old double standard paradox
actualy it's worse than that... they don't talk about it at all and spend the entire time talking about what hypocrites the Dems are for not complaining about Clinton and complaining about Arnold or Bush (for other reasons)...
This is their idea of balanced coverage. Lets not talk about the issues... lets just talk about the hypocracy... but only the hypocracy of ONE side.

8. Democrats tend NOT to be moralist, like Republicans
Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 10:53 AM by RobertSeattle
When Democrats say that "personal, unofficial behavior" doesn't matter, they tend to mean it.

When Republicans say that "personal, unofficial behavior" DOES matter, they only mean it when its against a Democrat.

It's not necessarily the candidate's hypocrisy we are talking about - it's the electorates. A principled CA Republican would vote for McClintock, but a (R) at any cost Republican votes for Arnold.

9. This has basically already happened
with Bill Clinton. As we saw, nothing really happened with the Flowers/Willey/Broadderick etc allegations. And it is precisely because of this that people are ho-hum with similar allegations against Arnold.

13. We need more evidence of hyprocrisy
and bias between the 'two standards'?

What if a democrat with numerous speeding infractions killed a guy on a motorcycle? We would still be hearing about it with a irrelevent comparison to Conuit and Torticelli

What if democrats sold TOWs to Iran?
What if a democrat served his wife divorce papers while she was in hospital with cancer?
What if a democratic president said he had admitted cocaine use?
What if a democratic president had a family with numerous convictions regarding finances 'leadership' as opposed to a stupid brother who drank beer and said stupid things?
What if a Democratic president had two twin daughters who have repeatedly got drunk underage and used fake ID? (the mind boggles at this one--it would write itself--Hillary/Bill are unfit to be parents, let alone run a country, where did they get the ID, was the secret service involved, did they know and when did they know it, should the parents spend more time with their children, is this what they do in trailer parks)

Take any of the astounding crap the GOP (just this President has done) and you can have no doubt that there is something beyond just 'media bias'

14. I know what you mean. Rush was given a pass for his racist comment...
concerning while Donovan McNabb while Robert Byrd said the N word and was crucified by the media for it. Same for ballplayers. Dusty Baker made a reference to whites 'being unable' to perform well in the heat compared to blacks and was shellacked for it while John Rocker was basically let off the hook for his racist remarks. Then there is the case of league executives. Gene Upshaw, an NFL Labor exec was excoriated for saying whites weren't 'as good in the trenches' of negotiating while Al Campanis was let off the hook for saying blacks 'lacked the necessities to manage'. So you make a good point.

16. What ever happened...
... to the Republicans who insisted that "character counts." Where are their "family values."

If nothing else, this recall points out once and for all that their platitudes mean nothing to them and that it really is all about power.

RWnuts are the most immoral people I've ever encountered.
