Protest, blues fest, love and leather to pack the streets"It looks like it's going to be one of those classic San Francisco weekends: a leather and fetish fair, a blues festival, an anti-war protest, a love parade -- and, of course, headache-inducing traffic....
...In what organizers say will be an "only in San Francisco" weekend jammed with seven major events,
residents and visitors are being advised to take public transportation, walk or ride bicycles. In other words, do anything but drive......The anti-war demonstration and march begins the weekend's events at noon Saturday, when protesters are scheduled to gather at Dolores Park between 18th and 20th streets. Demonstrators will head from Dolores north to 16th street, west to Church Street, north to Market Street and east to Van Ness Avenue. From there, marchers will head west on Turk Street to Jefferson Square for a rally....
...Street closures will be bounded by Van Ness on the west, Hyde Street on the east, McAllister Street on the north and Hayes Street on the south. Cross traffic along the parade route will be permitted intermittently, Shamban said. The celebration that follows at Civic Center Plaza is likely to last until 9 p.m...."
