Will we ever know the truth about the Super Dome?
There seem to be all kinds of stories floating around about murder and rape in the Super Dome, but how many are true? In a similar vein, were private homes in New Orleans looted or just stores? These questions are important because the rumors feed into a myth that poor people are uncivilized criminals that we must protect ourselves from. It would be interesting to compare the total amount of lawlessness in New Orleans during Katrina to a more typical week.

2. I haven't heard her story.
It's just that so many of the stories seem to be of the friend of a friend variety. How many people swear today that soldiers returning from Viet Nam were literally spat on in airports when studies show this to be a myth? Maybe there was an isolated incident in one airport, but some people believe that hippies were permanently camped in airports to "greet" soldiers. I'm just wondering how much actual crime there was in the Super Dome relative to the number of people there.

5. I believe my friend
a nurse in NO who later evacuated to the Superdome and she said she saw men, women and children raped, saw a couple of suicides, continual fighting and shootings, says the place was hell on Earth. My friend is a liberal Democrat and not some repuke saying this.
