There's No Fighting In The War Room ---pix->>>
Edited on Fri Sep-23-05 07:41 PM by Stephanie

Shouldn't Chertoff be working?

President Bush, right, and Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff, second from right, are briefed on Hurricane Rita at Peterson Air Force Base, in Colorado Springs, Colo., Friday, Sept 23, 2005. Peterson is the headquarter for NORAD and the U.S. Northern Command's operation center. (AP Photo/Susan Walsh)

1. * does not look engaged at all in the last photo
He looks bleary-eyed in all of them. What time of day were these photos taken?

6. Good observation
Rove limited Bush's appearances in the first term and that was a good idea.

The more the public sees Bush, the more clueless he looks.

5. Does that place-card say, Mr. President?
Can't they just sit down at the damned table without having to produce $500 place-cards so the chimp knows where to sit? Oy! :eyes:

(Don't forget -- he wasn't just some teenaged undergraduate -- this was a professional degree program.)

16. I see they've taken his paper and pencil away.
After the "Condi, I need to tinkle" note fiasco at the UN, Karl probably forbid him from taking notes in public.

19. Silly question...Why is that name plate turned toward the camera?
No one at the table is in a position to read it, only the cameraman, and maybe the guy on the end and *. Pretty useless for the others.

24. bush is probably thinking, "I never could understand a weather map."
He looks absolutely out of his league. Someone should have tapped him on the shoulder and whispered in his ear, "Stop slouching!" It seems as if he's about to slide right under the table in the last pic.

26. In every one of these photos, shrub's shoulders are drawn up
almost to it's ears. Compare to the other people at the table. I am seeing disconnect combined with extreme tension. Explosive body language; would want to be behind IT. Might get spattered.

27. good call ...
He seems to get really tense these days. His shoulders tightened visibly when he was walking away (and that reporter asked him that "getting in the way" question). He heard it, all right!
