Animal Rescue HOW YOU CAN HELP DIRECTLY!!!
The independent, go-getter, ultra-efficient rescuer at ericsdogblog.com needs donations so that he can get back into NOLA and resume rescues as soon as Rita passes.

Donations can be made through paypal at: erice@BulkRegister.com

100% of these funds go to the rescue effort!! (0% bureaucracy)

Check out his effort at ericsdogblog.com and donate whatever you can. Considering 100% of donations go directly to rescue efforts, ANY AMOUNT HELPS!!

He is legit, I promise!

If you do donate, please post amount here so I can alert him to how many supplies he can get tomorrow (again even $1 helps).

The pets of New Orleans thank you!!

3. Thank you so much!!
Apparently Eric is near tears every time he is updated with the results of your generosity!

He is weathering Rita in a donated barn with 10 of his latest rescues, but can only think of getting back to NO!!

4. I DID help directly today-and I'm beat!
Edited on Fri Sep-23-05 10:01 PM by Lorien
The rescue group I work with is doing a convoy up to Gulfport -with stops along the way- bringing 9 cargo vans and a couple of trucks (plus one Semi on Tuesday for the "leftovers" that wouldn't fit). I got Pookie's bow wow bakery, the small natural pet food shop where I do my adoptions, to accept donations for the effort for the past two weeks. These photos show just SOME of the donations were took in; the other rescue members filled 7 ADDITIONAL storage units (10'x10' to 20'x20')with food, carriers, collars, medical supplies, etc. I've also made four trips to Goodwill with "human quality" blankets, sheets, towels etc. that were donated and still have many more. The vans will return with pets from NOLA and other areas Monday.

Here's Melissa and Jane, our Pookie's volunteers, with one of our vans that is halfway full (it's our "carrier and crate van"):

It's full now!

Some of the "leftover" food to be taken there Tuesday:

I've been sorting, boxing, loading, unloading, and loading all week. Whew!

In addition, we've taken in around $6,000 JUST at Pookie's for the vet bills when we return with the pets!I have no idea how much came in from the dozen or so other donation locations and on our website; www.petrescuebyjudy.com .

I won't be driving up with them because I've never driven a large vehicle before (and there's no room for passengers). :-( Oh well, there's still much to do when they return!

I was just fortunate (or rather, the animal victims of Katrina were fortunate) to have a place to accept the donations-it was amazing how much people gave! Plus, the self storage owners even donated the lockers. :bounce:

I did some reading on a few tonight and was pretty frustrated with the amount of needless fighting, agendas, misinformation, etc.

This topic is so traumatic. I'd prefer more peace than that on my threads ... if I can get it.

Edited to clarify: I'm not referring to this thread.

21. It's so sad. Animals' lives are at stake, but they can't stop fighting
over nothing! The whole point of their thread gets lost, plus they risk getting it locked for flaming each other.

I also cringe when I see recommendations for contributions to HSUS, ASPCA, LSU, etc.
The big orgs. have done more to hinder rescues than facilitate them.
Gotta wonder how many pets have died because of those money-grubbing jerks.

I think I better understand your earlier question about links.
If you have the whole address in your post, then it becomes a click-able link.

34. Another kick and a plea for Eric!
Now HSUS is refusing to give him the list of pets that are in need of rescue.
HSUS had the only call-in phone number that was advertised for pet rescues.
20,000 people alerted HSUS about their animals.
HSUS is NOT helping to get those pets rescued by making sure all rescuers have the information.
God forbid that another individual or organization gets publicity or donations for pet rescues.

MONEY is ALL that matters to HSUS!!!

They took in $15 Million in the first two weeks after Katrina hit.
They had a net worth at the end of 2003 of $100 Million.

Where is all the money going?!!!
It's sure not going to pet rescue!

Please support Eric, if you can.
He is an amazing person who is busting his butt to save every pet he possibly can ... against unforgivable odds.
