DOES ANYONE ELSE FEEL THAT SOMETHING BIG
IS GOING TO GO DOWN THIS WEEKEND? From the moment I heard that bush was canceling his trip to Texas, and that he was going to Colorado Springs (into the bunker) to observe the hurricane from there, I got very nervous!!! At first I thought "oh the big coward is running away from Cindy" But now , I don't think that's the whole story. Especially when I read on DU yesterday about the possibility of troops in DC this weekend, and Martial Law etc. Tell me, do I need a tinfoil hat on, or what?? I'm really, really worried!! Seems my ESP is on "overdrive". Could this be why very few elected officials will be in Washington this weekend? Does anyone know who else will be with bush in Colorado besides the director of homeland security and the new fema boss? :scared: :nuke:

27. I know I'm not going to get shot by any troops,
because I won't be there. I do worry for Cindy, but I hear she's going to have 4? body guards. Hope she doesn't need them. If I could be there, I would, because I'm not really afraid of anyone, but what I'm fearing is for my Country and it's future!

23. Thank you "your honor" for the calming words.
What you may not know tho' is that I do have a "sixth sense". I am not trying to alarm anyone, just looking for some feedback on what I'm feeling. It could be that I'm experiencing "post traumatic hurricane and stupid bush disorder"!!

34. I do too, a little, sometimes
I've been wondering too. For this weekend, I feel...something, maybe, but I can't identify it. About the only thing is this feeling of, sounds dramatic I'm sorry, running out of time. I want to stock up on water. And coffee. It's probably more from my worries than anything else. It's silly, I know, because it's one of those self-perpetuating prophesies if enough people have the same worries.

I have to shop tommorrow when I get off work. I think I'll stock up on water, coffee, dog food for my baby, fresh batteries etc. ( oh and cigarettes, (as I'm a smoker) Also fill up my gas tank....DANG!! there goes my grocery money!! My cupboards are almost bare. Damn bush to hell anyhow!!!! Maybe I'll get a bottle or two of wine too. Just me and my puppy dog to comfort me, whatever comes, comes. My late husband always said, "if there ever was a nuclear war on US soil, he would want to be at "ground zero" and now that he's gone, I feel the same way! :tinfoilhat:

8. I am not worried
NORAD is in Colorado and as commander in chief he thinks he can direct the military response to the storm best from Colorado. It's probably not a bad idea. He certainly can't go to where the storm is hitting or he could be killed so why not go to where all the big action takes place?

20. No but * could nuke DC. They have a law in place
to make them all powerful should that happen. It would save a lot of work for them; like having to keep up the pretense of democracy, etc.

People that think the US has traditions or understandings that everyone will play by to keep democracy functioning amuse me. These bastards have all the trump cards and all the guns. They rule. Polls don't matter. Elections don't matter. They rule. Get used to it. Period

29. Midnight hysteria.
Dontcha love it?

Georgie may have all the guns (he doesn't) but he doesn't have the men to carry them. Bottom line: he's blown the army to bits and they hate his guts for it. Take over the US for him? Can you say "fragging"?

And I adore the way you forget the 50 governors and their state troopers. Not to mention the well-armed cops of our local municipalities. They bought lots of fun toys with the Homeland Security money.

We'd have secession busting out all over. All a Georgie armed coup would achieve is the destruction of the union. And why bother when they own the ballot boxes? Much more comfy.

32. get some rest. "they" don't have all the guns.
Who are "they." Bushco just like all fascistic-type leadership styles rule by DUPING a majority of the PEOPLE but they still are the PEOPLE. polls do matter, "elections" do matter... because if their shadow lifts from the hearts and minds of a certain percentage of their die-hards, then all bets are off for them.

Bush is not making an army of orcs out in the forests somewhere, he rules because he has enough people DUPED. We need to UN-dupe people and such paranoid hogwash does a lot for the other side.

Have you found a safe haven? How long did it take you to get out> It's all so horrifying!! I've lost everything in a flood once, but my house went floating down the river. It was horrendous, but nothing like these past two hurricanes that have disrupted so many peoples' lives...Those who escaped with their lives. I hope you have a home to go back to!!

40. The morning we were supposed to leave, it took a north turn, so we stayed
put to stay off the highways and out of the hotels. We were prepared for about a cat 3 hurricane where I live (mid Texas coast, inland 30 miles), but we haven't gotten a drop, and only a few breezes. It feels like someone sucked all the air out for the last five days.

(The plan was to go to my father's house NW of Houston if the storm went west, or to Corpus Christi if it went just south of Houston. Any further north and we are fine at home.)

31. YES. There are several posts along these lines. Here are two:
One started by me earlier today: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4862220

And one by iconoclastic cat (started about the same time as mine):
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4862204

As a general rule I don't "freak out" but TODAY I have been spending a lot of time LITERALLY 'hiding' under the covers. I think a lot of bad shit is going down right now. Shit we don't know anything about. Bush doesn't need to be at NorCom HQ for a hurricane! The idea is ridiculous on its face. So why IS he there? One can only speculate -- and it ain't nothing good.

35. They Didn't Tell Bush About Cindy Being In DC This Weekend....
they simply said Mr. President - how would you like to be in a bunker and watch the hurricane. You can pretend you are directing FEMA from there. It would be cool Mr. President.

No sense getting Bush upset that somebody doesn't agree with him.
