Just bought the new Michael Moore book... and I met a Republican...

..he was in line in front of me buying one of the Wesley Clark books.

I struck up a conversation by asking if he liked Clark.

He said I've been a republican all my live and my wife is a lifelong democrat. We both believe General Clark is our best hope in getting that asshole out of office.

He told me he was 80 years old and he stood there and ranted about Bush LOUD for several minutes, garnering dirty looks from all around.

Come to find out he is an author and working on a book about what he calls the Iraq debacle.

6. My Dad is 83 and lives in WV, one of the many states that went for...

...the Bushies in 2000. He says that two years ago he could go into the local post office or grocery store and say something negative about Bush and he would get dirty looks from all directions. Now, he says he's lucky if he gets in the first negative shot.

Not bad for a guy that fought in WWII and voted for the GOP in every election until 2000.

7. THat's funny.... I was at a book store buying Conason's new book

about how right wingers will say anything to get in power, even that they are moderates when they are far right thugs, and getting a bartcop sticker pic with him... heh.

And I asked some hardcore liberals there what they thought of Clark... and this is when I was still kind of excited about him. They told me to go google "perfumed prince" and read what I found.

I think Clark will appeal to republicans... after all, he is one. However he might see the base of the party fall right out from under him and you can be sure the greens won't be voting for him.

That's just what we need right now, a nice wedge down the middle of the left to break the party once and for all... amazing that this would happen just as Dean is bringing the party togehter like never before.

...to Clark has admitted that he was wrong about that statement after doing more research and actually meeting Clark. Amazing how them right wing talking points seem to take on a life of their own even when they are not accurate.

Chimpy is an "idiot." He says, now, that it is a shameful time to be a Republican.

Luckily, I didn't talk to him. My much more diplomatic husband did. He just encouraged the direction the guy was moving in. If it had been me, I'd have been yelling "No shit, Sherlock. I told you so. I told you months ago you were making the mistake of believing Bush . . . and on and on." As I say, luckily I didn't talk to him.

that being said - spoke to my dad a few days ago, usually we just chit chat about nothing

he brought up the subject of Clark - said if Clark gets the nomination he'll vote for him, otherwise he's going to abstain from voting for a president

His main reason is not the economy, but the mess in Iraq. He supported going into Iraq and kicking saddam out, but feels that Bush is not up to the task of "finishing" the job...

(here's the kicker and I quote) "...he's no better than his father in getting things done, walks away when the job is half-done...."

So, I went into my personal "archives" and found that your dad (and I) are not alone in that thought. I found these:
