But my CNN has been reporting winds in excess of 100 mph and major structural damage. Plus, New Orleans is flooded again.

"40-45" That's NOTHING. My father was in the military, I lived in South Carolina in the 80s (for Hugo), and in Florida for most the 90s. I've seen my share of storms, and 40 mph winds are nothing to sweat. A guy down the street from me had a whole TREE placed in his bathroom.

My 2 brothers rode out the 4 hurricanes that hit FL the other year, no evacuating for either of them. One in Tallahassee, one in Orlando. Hate to sound like an opportunistic prick, but after the hurricane comes, go outside and see what free sh*t got blown into your yard, it's like a raffle, lol.

SHOULD WEAKEN TODAY AS THE CENTER MOVES FARTHER INLAND.

HURRICANE FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 85 MILES FROM THE
CENTER...AND TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP
TO 205 MILES. AN INSTRUMENTED TOWER IN PORT ARTHUR RUN BY THE
FLORIDA COASTAL MONITORING PROGRAM HAS JUST REPORTED SUSTAINED
WINDS OF 91 MPH WITH A GUST TO 116 MPH.
