I am so tired of the term "breaking news."

I remember a time, not so very long ago, when "breaking news" meant something had been bombed, or a town was wiped out in a storm, or a plane crashed.

Now, everything is "breaking news." Who cares if Cheney is going in for surgery? I sure as shit do not care what he is doing. If he is in surgery, I guess, it is that long he is out of commission ruining America. Is that what merits the "breaking" designation? Maybe it is because I am breaking up laughing that he is under the knife.

his athersclerosis (hardening of the arteries) has caused problems in both his knees--it's quite common and not very dangerous surgery, as they describe it (if they are telling the truth)
