12. A "kick" helps keep the thread at the top of the forum
in this case, General Discussion.

It's often accompanied by this symbol :kick:

Someone will post a word ... someone replies w/ the first word that occurs to him/her ... someone replies to that ... and so on.

17. Great turnout. Just a damn shame that A.N.S.W.E.R.'S speakers
fucked up the whole agenda for the anti-war movement and bringing our troops home. I'm started to think that we Dems are easily made fools of and that is why we aren't winning seats.

I am embarrassed by what was advertised as the first major anti-war rally with Cindy Sheehan.

However, we get American Arab/Muslim leaders getting up there and giving many, many speeches regarding the Palestinian cause.

There is a time and place for everything, and today was not the time nor the place for the venue to be changed so dramatically. I never saw anything regarding the speakers and what they were going to speak about.

I'm disgusted as to how easily the protest turned from anti-war and bring our troops home now to the struggles of Palestine, Arab Americans and Muslims.

No, I am more than disgusted, I am angry because they have made this THEIR agenda for today and sodomized the Democratic Party.

Now the pro-war protesters tomorrow should have a wonderful time with this. Also, you know they are going to have all those so-called, Moral Majority leaders who will probably speak and who will want to canonize Bush (even though he is not Catholic, but he does attend a Catholic church in Washington. Don't ask me why when he is a Methodist and there are plenty of methodist churches he could go to.

If the organizers of this march were fully aware of what the TRUE agenda was going to be, they need to be fired (even if they are volunteers).

It's the same thing as David Brown running FEMA. Obviously, they don't have a clue.

God, it's getting harder and harder to stay loyal to a party whose leaders allows people with obviously other agendas to take over a War Rally that was advertised as an anti-war rally for OUR TROOPS IN IRAQ and getting them home. I wonder how they feel watching this???? I wouldn't think they would be very proud of the Democratic Party and neither am I. I'm just glad I didn't support this Bullshit.

18. I just have no idea what this thread is saying
I get that there's a picture of some anti-war rally in the bottom right of the OP. I have no idea what "Baton Rouge" has to do with it. Is this a rally in Baton Rouge? The street names all sound like Washington D.C. streets; but then I don't know if Baton Rouge has the same street names or not. I don't know what a map of a section of D.C. looks like, but I'm guessing these are maps of D.C. I have no idea what all the green and pink dots are or why that map is repeated four times. Maybe there are subtle differences in the maps that I'm missing. Maybe if I knew what program or website these screen captures are from, it would make it all clear. Sometimes a little explanation would help the non-mind-readers and those who are not right where you are now with all the current knowledge of your current situation that you have.

21. THEY ARE AT THE CONCERT NOW
3 pm: "Operation Ceasefire" Concert & Rally Washington Monument. Come enjoy this free event featuring Cindy Sheehan, Joan Baez, Steve Earl, Thievery Corporation, Bouncing Souls, La Tigre and more!
- 5-7 pm: Camp Casey Reunion Constitution Avenue between 14th & 15th streets. If you made it to Camp Casey in Crawford this summer, come reconnect with all of the amazing people that were a part of this beautiful, spirited action. (Open only to those who were at Camp Casey in Crawford.)
- 6-7 pm: Medea Benjamin speaks at the Green Festival.

This is from CODEPINK's website, fwiw http://www.codepink4peace.org/article.php?id=501

Wish CSPAN would have carried the fucking concert instead of that whining lady with the screeching, crazed voice from the PI bitching about Arroyo--she shoulda been alive back in the 70's, when the PI really WAS crawling with US troops. Now our footprint there is beyond MINOR...

Eh, we have to make and SUPPORT our own media, we cannot rely on anyone else.

20. Sorry you are having trouble
Baton Rouge is probably just the name of a street in Washington or perhaps the site has web cams in Baton Rouge that it is letting people know are working again. The empty streets are in parts of Washington and if you had gone to the Thread where they were talking about the Washington web cams you would have recognized the map of Washington DC.

I think it saying Baton Rouge got you a little confused.

25. Where am I? I was right at 15th and Constitution for more than two hours
Behind Veterans for Peace and Iraq Veterans Against the War. It was the nicest crowd I've ever been in the middle of, but I was getting dizzy due to medical problems and had to get away from the inevitable jostling. Next time I'll get a hotel room for a refuge, but I hope someone sets up a place for people with disabilities to sit down and chill out a bit.
