Let's say you're someone on the fence about the war and you're watching
CSPAN's coverage right now. Do you think this coverage will sway them over to our side? I'm very afraid it will not. :(

I mean, I like to think I'm pretty knowledgeable about things, but even I had never heard of the Cuban Five. I certainly can't draw any correlation between this Cuban Five and the war.

3. I think it will turn people off. Too long and too many almost
unknown speakers. They need to go to the march.

4. I don't care what people watching think. The huge majority of Americans
oppose the Iraq war. I don't mind seeing a variety of people and hearing a variety of views. Our political life shouldn't be guided by public relations, but by openness and attentiveness especially to people who have been marginalized.

7. You should care what people watching think
because like it or not this culture, this society at this point in time is all about how things look. There are more people who are guided by appearences than there are who give serious thought to issues. If you turn them off to the cause you lose them to apathy or worse to the other side.

8. So you want to save
this country from that mindset, by making this side look good physically?

Does that really fix any problem?

I guess if you lure them in with better party decorations, you could maybe convert them to this side's way of thinking. But then the other side will eventually make their side look better again, and then what?

9. That is not what I'm saying
I'm talking about being ON MESSAGE and NOT diluting it with a thousand different causes and therby turning off and confusing people. I don't give a damn how people LOOK but we should all care about a rally that spins off in a thousand directions and gets hijacked by any one group.

6. People were groaning everytime they mentioned a new speaker
The issues they were talking about are important but not the reason for this march!
