A WARNING TO THE MEDIA; YOU ARE DIGGING YOUR OWN GRAVES
No Andrea Mitchell bullshit about how you're really fair. No excuses this time. Your ignoring this protest will be PROOF POSITIVE to millions of people that you are in BushCo's back pocket. And that will only feed the protests you're trying to ignore, long after today.

Maybe you don't care. But the American people do, and we'll rememeber.

5. You must be mistaken
Jerry Springer informed us on Friday's show that there is no rightwing bias in the news media. They love big stories with pictures no matter who they reflect badly on. :sarcasm: So I am sure that the media is covering this.

6. Ok folks as much as this is a critical event
in the antiwar movement, there is a disaster going on as well

So if they don't cover ANY of it, you have a point, but to have the lion's share of the coverage down in the Gulf is to be expected... it is actually one of the reasons for the media, communications in time of disaster

8. Bullshit
Period. This is as historic an event as has ever occurred. There is no need for 24 hour coverage of some guy in a raincoat while the nation's capitol is under siege.

17. Hurricane occur every year, too.
And an American city gets hit every year.

But 300,000-600,000 people surrounding the White House...how often does that happen? And remember, the storm has passed. This storm in DC is happening NOW. Where are the jerk-offs out in their rain coats NOW, standing in the middle of THIS storm?

22. As I said the early marches when they finally got
hot during the Nam war were not covered either...

And again, how often does an America City gets totaled? Once every 100 years, so the LA event was a century event.

33. No he is not
but I will answer his question, this is as historic at the 1970s marches on DC... and again the early ones were not thoughly covered, taht well... it took time for the media to do it then as well. I doubt they will wake up this time, but given there is a disaster IF there is no mention on TV of the march then they have failed... I still expect the lion share to be Rita now and Rita all the time... hell the true picture of how the marches influenced the Nam War was truly seen in the recreation of actually two marches at the end of HAIR...

19. It is, but believe it or not
if I am a disaster manager where actual lives also hang on the balance, I want to have CNN tell people where to move.

Granted I also want the press covering this march, but it is a balancing act, and if I were in charge of the control room I'd say 80\20 with 20 to the march, woudl be a good cut, or maybe 70\20\10 with the last 10 percent to all other news items

but in time of disasters you also need the news media there to tell people what things on the ground are... and at times, I have used media for this... you use them to direct major populations.

As I said if they have nothing on TV you have a point, but I expect the lion share to go to the Hurricane

with Katrina they were screaming where is the water? Where is the food, where are the trucks? Where is the NG? They never showed internaitonal teams and they never showed really bad stuff outside of NOLA...

So no, they have not done their real mission (in a disaster) either.

They SO ignored the last big protest, that the New York Times (?) not sure, had to run a correction the day after, stating that the crowds were larger than had been "reported" *snort* in their article of the day before. I'll look for it....

Here's one:

Times, NPR Change Their Take on DC Protests

Three days after its first report on the D.C. antiwar protests, readers of the New York Times were treated to a much different account of the same event. On October 30, the Times reported that the October 26 protests "drew 100,000 by police estimates and 200,000 by organizers', forming a two-mile wall of marchers around the White House. The turnout startled even organizers, who had taken out permits for 20,000 marchers."

This directly contradicted the Times' October 27 report, which noted that the "thousands" of demonstrators were "fewer people... than organizers had said they hoped for." The October 30 Times report also included much more information about similar protests around the country, and featured quotes from various antiwar activists...

...National Public Radio, another target of FAIR's action alert, has also offered a correction of its misleading coverage of the D.C. protest. The following message is now posted on NPR's website:

On Saturday, October 26, in a story on the protest in Washington, D.C. against a U.S. war with Iraq, we erroneously reported on All Things Considered that the size of the crowd was "fewer than 10,000." While Park Service employees gave no official estimate, it is clear that the crowd was substantially larger than that. On Sunday, October 27, we reported on Weekend Edition that the crowd estimated by protest organizers was 100,000. We apologize for the error.

ERROR MY *SS

The media ignoring this protest won't serve as "proof" of anything to "millions of people." Because they won't know it happened. Because it didn't get reported.

Mostly the story has been buried by Rita. All the stations are almost all Rita all the time.

Also, you need to remember that protests by angry leftists are pretty much routine. There always seems to be one somewhere, so it ceases to be news.

38. Taht is exactly the point I have made
it will take at LEAST three more marches this size surrounding the WHI, for the Press to start covering them as a matter of fact. They covered the Antiwar day before the war started butI suspect because the marches were all over the world.

It will take another two to three mobilizations, just as it did with NAM

A major hurricane on the heels of another major hurricane AND the biggest anti-war demonstration in 35 years. So why aren't the media covering both of them? I don't object to the hurricane coverage. What I object to is ONLY hurricane coverage! Am I supposed to believe that CNN and MSNBC have no crews in Washington because of Hurricane Rita? Give me a break.
