Yahoo news story--Anti-War Protesters March in Washington
Needs rated & recommended

Opponents of the war in Iraq marched Saturday in a clamorous day of protest, song and remembrance of the dead, some showing surprisingly diverse political views even as they spoke with one loud voice in wanting U.S. troops home.

The surging crowd, shouting "Bush out now" and "Peace now," marched in front of the White House and then to the Washington Monument in an 11-hour marathon of dissent.

They were young people with green hair, nuns whose anti-war activism dates to Vietnam, parents mourning their children in uniform lost in Iraq, and uncountable families motivated for the first time to protest.

President Bush himself was out of town, monitoring hurricane recovery efforts from Colorado and Texas. The protesters shouted for his impeachment.

over 2000 miles away. He must hate us for our freedoms! So much for redress of greviances. Fucknut in Charge was too busy at the Coors Brewery getting that good Rocky Mountain High!

18. You're not from around here, are you
A couple of hundred people?

Green hair?

You obviously weren't at the rally, uh--I mean the ANTI-WAR rally, and it doesn't seem as though you know the first thing about the rally or the people who attended.

BTW, he's not MY prez. He is a fucking murderous, lying, war criminal.

Oh yeah, Aloha :hi:

19. LOL, he is only 'visible' for photo-ops, a vain attempt to recover

from his plummeting polls, ain't gonna happen. He looks even more pathetic and desperate, if possible.

21. No, you are not excused.
http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/09/22/rita.bush/
'The visit will enable Bush "to get a firsthand look at the preparations that are under way for Hurricane Rita and to show our support for the first responders as they get ready for the response to Hurricane Rita," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said.'

Bush was playing politics. His looking at preparations didn't do anyone any good, nor did 'showing support'. That's not what first responders need. This was basically a photo op ('more visible'), it was damage control after his colossal FAILURE to respond to Katrina. In fact, not only did he not respond, he and his administration OBSTRUCTED the response to Katrina. He wasn't simply 'less visible'. He is at least guilty of criminal negligence. One reason the levees broke was because of the republican tax cuts for the filthy rich. Because of the tax cuts and the war on Iraq, funding for improving the levees was cut. Tax cuts kill people.

Note that Rita's victims had more money than Katrina's victims, more of them were white, more of them republicans, and most of them were Texans. Most of those who died in New Orleans were very poor and black.

So he didn't obstruct the response to Rita, and I'm glad he didn't, but he to be commended for that?

A couple hundred? No, at least 100,000, maybe lots more, and I didn't see one person with green hair, the vast majority of the protesters looked normal. There was a freeper pro-war counter-protester who looked very weird. He had painted his face red, white, and blue in a bizarre manner. Another freeper had a sign saying 'Hippies smell. Eat all the hippies.'. So I asked him, 'Are you a cannibal?'. I didn't detect any odor from any of the protesters and very few looked like hippies. Besides, if someone wants to look like a hippie or have die their hair green, they should be able to without being subject to discrimination from bigots.

4. Why is it necessary for the media to qualify their information by letting
know that the idiot-in-chief was out of town "monitoring" recovery efforts. I'd bet my last nickel he is monitoring nothing of the sort. The Yahoo story could have done without the "Bush out of town" reference.

11. Well, they did have the courage to not low-ball it
"Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey, noting that organizers had hoped to draw 100,000 people, said, 'I think they probably hit that.'"

I thought according to the KKKarl Rove memo, the media was supposed to divide estimated attendance at anti-war protests by ten?

24. He/she/it was freaking not hitting on all cylinders
Speaking about our protest Saturday, it said that we had hundreds come out against the war (yeah, HUNDREDS of thousands, morans). Then it just went into saying something lame to defend chimp. It was really pathetic.

27. "Organizers of a pro-military rally Sunday hoped for 10,000 people."...
they got 400 people!! LOL

the media is really stretching to show the "other side"... the pro WAR side.... why not write.. "a few radical pro war demonstrators shouted "Jesus hates you" at the crowd of Americans marching by." I was there.. and that would be more accurate description of the 6 freepers I watched.
